Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller
I am contemplating installing a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller in my new Ram 2500 QC. Has anyone installed this unit? I am interested in where you installed it, which mounting bracket you used and if you were able to mount it with the display "upright" to alllow you to read the display.
I'd really appreciate a picture of the installed unit if you can post one.
Thanks

Re:Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller
I think you will find that most of the people here are either using the Prodigy or the Jordan. Both great controllers. As far as mounting it, I have my Prodigy mounted down on the knee bolster on the right side of the steering wheel. Makes it easy to glance down and read the display. If I was at home, I would take a pic and show you. ;D

Re:Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller
My Prodigy is mounted like TPilaske's. It is easy to reach, easy to read, and doesn't bump my knees. I bought the adapter plug kit from Tekonsha for about $10 and the electrical install took about 2 minutes. I did spend a little time routing the cable and doing a neat mounting job. Total time = 30 minutes.
I've towed 3 different trailers with this setup and it took about 60 - 90 seconds to adjust the controller for each one. It's cake.

Get the connection harness for $10 as well. That way you don't have to splice any wires... makes the install a breeze!

Check out the Jordan brake controller. I've read a lot on the RV sites and most folks like the Jordan, esp on wet and slick roads..

Re:Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller
You shouldn't need any. It's only 2 screws to mount the bracket and then if you get the complete harness, just plug one end in the prodigy and the other into the connector under the dash. Should be in or near the same location as the previous models. The connector on mine is blue, might be different on your '04 though! ;D

I will second olehippie101 on the Jordan. My last truck had the Prodigy. After driving a truck with a Jordan, I left my Prodigy in the old truck and have the Jordan in the new one. I have a pic of the installation on page 10, FiverBob's White Ghost. The Jordan is soooooo smooth.

Happy with the Prodigy.
Mounted lower left of steering column.

BigK,
I was out at an RV place over lunch and had a look at the Prodigy. With the clip mount, it looks like it would mount nicely on either side of the steering column (on the "kick" panel). The metal bracket will hug the unit closer to the panel, but looks liike it would make it more difficult to adjust. Which bracket did you use?
Have you been satisfied with the performance?

Re:Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller
For those who are interested, I had the Prodigy installed in my Ram this week. I've attached a few pictures of the install. I debated about drilling a hole in the kick panel to pass the wires through, but elected to run them along the outside of the panel for now. Looking at the pictures, I might have the hole drilled. I think it will make for a neater installation.
