Thanks man, I have a lot to learn about all this. Im seeing a lot of 1 ton duallys on craigslist from 10,000 to 15,000 with slightly over 100 thousand miles on them. Are there any particular motors I should shy away from, or years ? I mean some of them look fantastic! with under 150 thousand on them?

03 and early 04 are great camper haulers. I sold my 03 to a guy who bought it for his son, and he likes ot better than his 2012.

The Okanagan I have is still in excellent shape. It's an '07. Replaced the converter, & added another charger for fast charge, & have one roof vent cap that cracked last outing. I think I'll get many more years out of it.

Replace the roof vent cap with a Lexan cap and it won't ever crack.

It was the cap over the holding tank vent.

Not going to happen. The truck no problem. Also seemed like I was changing out tt tires more often from weather rot than use. Keep in mind that the kids are going to have different activities during the nice weather months so the rig might end up sitting more than you might expect. I remember a few years when the camper only went on the truck a couple of time. Baseball, Girl Scouts, and endless school functions when they got a bit older kept us tied down more than I would of preferred. Now the cab over lives on the truck and is used often. So the trick is to enjoy what ever you pick and make the most of it. Neither are the perfect rig for everything and only you know how much you plan to be in it? They are nice to get in out of the rain and sleep in. You can cook in them and you can shower in them. Even though cooking and showering is cramped that is all part of the camping experience. Enjoy
You just read my mind, In 1988 I was living on mission Boulevard South San Diego, And I want to return there and do some camping , I just came back to Oklahoma from a camping trip to Montaña de Oro State park , I realy enjoyed Cyucos and the San Luis Obispo Coast Where my wife went to college. Cool little town. I will never again go in a f150 truck though lol. I had so much fun on this one trip that I would never ever sale my slide in Camper. That thing was a life saver over and over again. I left Cambria and when we arrived in Cyucos we had a ready made motel on the back of the truck, we had a blast. And we really enjoyed the Grand Canyon. And when we returned home I made it a priority to join this forum and learn all I can about diesels.

We've got reservations @ Kirk Creek campground in Big Sur in early oct. followed by one night in El Capitan campground north of Santa Barbara.
Kirk Creek space #11 is right on the cliff overlooking the sea. El Cap is OK but like many of the state's campgrounds, pretty rundown.
Just returned from the eastern Sierras which were deserted and pristine.

Nice camper on your F150! I believe the 1900lb dry weight as it's not an 11' camper. If it was, It would be sticking out about 4.5' past the end of your truck bed. That's more like a 8.5' model.
Either way, if it isn't actually crushing the F150 you don't NEED a dually. If you find one and dont mind having it as a daily driver then it will be the ultimate camper hauler, but you could easily and safely haul that one on a 3/4 ton SRW truck.

Well, made the maiden voyage from Seattle to Anchorage with it.
Truck handled it well with airbags and added a BD exh brake which made the downhill runs effortless, considering I was pullin a loaded 16' trailer as well.
I'd reccomend anyone who wants to save their tires not run siped 33" mudders! The 1700miles driven took about 10k in wear off the rears.

Really quite stable considering the tall tires and srw holding up 4k lbs +. Need to makes ome blocks to engage the overload leafs to reduce body roll, but it was certainly not a challenge to drive as some would make it seem.
