pulling 43000lbs 3500 miles
Well folks, just to give you an update. I picked up my 40 ft gooseneck in texas last wed. It has 12k axles. Drove into the night to nebraska and picked up my shop. I was figuring the whole thing would weigh right around 28k. I was wrong. I drove on the scale at their place when loaded and I weighed in at 43k plus. I have a 2500 with twins now, mach 4s, 235 g rated tires, and air bags with rancho 9000's. I so far have driven over 10k on my way back to alaska. I am in whitehorse and am almost home. I have been driving since friday. I wont go any faster than 50mph. On these roads up here that is a bit much. With the pac brake it stops great. Driving down I averaged about 19 mpg empty and loaded I am guessing I am getting about 8 mpg. She is working on some of those hills that are 9% grade. The old cummins is getting some looks from people. People keep telling me that it is quite a load and all I can tell them is that she pulls fine. (I do get passed quite a bit though). I will let you know when I get back to palmer to let you all know that the cummins can do it. One more thing, when I was home in wisconsin, I put the twins on because the big single had way to much lag. I raced my old mans corvette from 40mph on, and walked away from him. He is going to spend some money on his car now. On the dyno in north dakota, I dynoed at 508 hp. My torque was 876 but the guy that worked the dyno said it revved too quick. He is said I needed to go to a bigger dyno. He only had a 4k roller. I can live with 500 hp at the wheels. Just hope the U joints can. I will post pics of the truck and trailer when I get back to alaska. Later

43K!!!!? I pulled 23836 back to Ohio from southern Oregon (the long way, down CA coast and across I-40) and while the truck didn't seem to notice it was there I sure did.
I have 4 Sterling Acterra M6500 trucks all with a 260/660 ISB and they gross just shy of 30K when loaded. The baby Cummins moves them just fine, but 43K wow

I've grossed up ~37k with a Dodge 1500 w/360. Was pulling a grain wagon that was loaded with beans. Truck didn't really care. Was driving real slow, and the wagon had working brakes. Only went about 5-7miles with it. No problems.
