Planning a little trip

im planning a little trip from Colorado to Ohio then PA then NC, then back for Colorado. anyways i was just curious what all i should to to help my truck out as much as possible, i know im getting ALL of the fluids changed, tire pressure and the basic stuff, but am i gonna need to do anything else. im not gonna be hauling anything other then my GSXR-1000 there but comming home ill have my bike, a four wheeler(a little one for my daughter) and the rest of the bed will be full of beer(since i can't get it out here in CO), anad thought about taking the boat to screw around on.

any info would help, i think that i have everything covered.

oh yeah--what kinda fuel milage do ya'll get, i think that something is wrong im only getting about 12-13 MPG is that about normal??

Dually MPG towing my measly 3klb boat is ~13.5-14 depending upon terrain.

MPG empty mixed fwy/city ranges from 14.5-16. Strictly fwy close to 18.

How are you driving the truck?

Me: Around town, I lock out 4th...45-50mph & the computer wants to shift into 4th ~48mph. I find lower egt's are representative of less fuel being burned. If I let it get into 4th & TC locks, egts start climbing towards 800-900; in 3rd at 50mph. egts can be as low as 600-700. I also stay off the throttle & let the truck shift at ~1900-2000rpm. Oh, and I leave the jake on al the time...TC locks up in 3rd ~30mph.

Give this a try???

ok, im back and finally over!!! ended up with 17.5 MPG over the whole trip that is including driveing around in town. not too bad i guess.. the best fuel milage i got was from Warrington MO to Limon CO area--i got 21.5 MPG!! wish it would stay at that.

anyways got the navigation issue fixed. i guess that a day in CO will dry out anything. i think that it was just the humidity that screwed something up.

made it with no major problems, NO TICKETS, but i did see on REALLY BAD accident. got some pics ill try and put on tommorrow. an 18 wheeler flipped about 5 times. pretty scarry stuff..
