Mega Cab & Goose neck ??
Mega Cab & Goose neck ??
Anybody using a gooseneck with their mega cab, I'd love to know how it's working, and what type of hitch you used. I had a f-250 7.3l, and recently purchased a 07 3500 dually 4x4 5.9 l mega cab. I know they make sliders in the fifth wheels, but whats the solution for goosenecks, or is it necessary. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
for instance, B&W makes a hitch extender which extends the neck back about 5" to help with clearence. That seems to help a lot of folks here... Sorry I have a long bed, can't really speak from expierience, just from what I have gathered over the years...
I haul a gooseneck with my mega and no problems. But I will have clearance problems with my travel trailer which I have converted from 5th wheel to gooseneck. Im going to have to do something like in the above picture. But as far as a reg. goosneck trailer, no clearance problems.

something kind of like this should work:

I found it by searching google for "gooseneck extension"

By the way, Colibert makes a sliding gooseneck hitch. I believe it is the only one made. I was going to buy one myself but the Good 2 Go hitch (gooseneck minus slider) was $600 alone. I'm sure the slider adds several hundred to that price. If you don't need a slider the B&W is probably the best on the market, and can be purchased for $333 shipped of an authorised eBay reseller.

I am somewhat confused.
Why are you concerned about clearance with a goose neck trailer? Most G/N trailers the hitch post is the forward most part on the trailer. i do not know if this is true with horse trailers tho.
So if you are pulling a horse trailer please disregard the above.
The only time the bed length is a problem for folks with a short bed truck pulling a 5er is when they have to jockey the truck/trailer into a tight camping spot.
That is based on listening to friends who have short bed trucks that pull 5ers.
our trucks are long beds and I do not have to worry about that. I would rather have a 8 foot bed. That is me, lots of people see things different than the way I see them.
Thanks for serving.
