Goose neck or 5th wheel? Which is the better way to go?

Goose neck or 5th wheel? Which is the better way to go?
I want to get one or the other. 5th wheel or gooseneck. I just dont know whats the better way to go. I have heard a few things like, gooseneck puts to much stress on the frame, fifth wheel takes up way to much room, cant pull some things if you have the other setup. I there a two in one setup? Is it reletively easy to set up a 5th wheel or gooseneck to the trucks. The reason I like gooseneck is the little hole in the bed as apposed to the big plate. Why dont they make 5th wheel travel trailers in gooseneck? Thanks for any input.
i prefer the goose neck hitch,gives more room in the bed,also has more freedom of movement when trailer and truck are flexing in diferent directions.a welding shop in my area sells a conversion kit for 5er trailers to goose neck.works great.

The 5er works good in a camper configuration where the weight is known and will be petty constant theres not alot of sideways flex in a 5er hitch setup
A Gooseneck can handle much more weight most hitches are rated for 30000 lbs and a plus is the movement allowed means it can be taken off road in uneven terrain to load the trailer

If the trailer your looking at come in a gooseneck version get it, because of the extra room you will have in the bed and it is much stonger connection to the truck 26k to 30k lbs vs 16k.
I would not use a converter for the most part because RV mfgs go the cheap route on the connection that is why the 5er. Horse trailers and equipment trailers are all gooseneck because of the live loads and heavier weights which it can handle.
Best of both worlds is a Putnum or B&W gooseneck hitch with a drop in to the gooseneck hitch a 5er head so you can go either way. Note is this not the converter tube but a full 5er head unit!

You may have a small problem no matter what you decide on because you have a short bed truck.
You will need some type of slider hitch to run a 5th wheel if I remember correctly. If yo decide to go with a gooseneck setup then you could still run into a problem because a gooseneck may still hit your cab when turning.

I have a 27' Terry travel trailer with a goose neck, I use my 2001 with a reese rail system. The rail system allows me to use a goose hitch to pull my trailer or a 5 hitch to pull my dads 30' trailer. I like the goose it gives you alittle bit more flex if you go off the road at all.
