looking for short wheel base GN tandem trailer

I'm looking for some info/vendors, of a short wheelbase trailer. Mainly a normal 30' GN tandem trailer just with the axles moved up. I have a 2500 CTD and would like to be able to put more weight behind the trailer axles given the situation loads involved to take some weight off the truck as i'm fairly limited to pin weight on the rear end. I sit 2940 rear axle unloaded. Just not sure where to start looking. Thanks.

There we go, yea I guess that makes sense. I've just seen a few that had quite a bit of overhang over the rear of the axles. Maybe thats what I need. A 20' trailer with a 10' overhang. Just a different way of wording it to get around those pesky liabilitys

I had a 20 foot custom made and they would only move the axles 6 inches. You need some pin weight when the trailer is empty or the tail will wag the dog...... You could install 265/75R16 at 3415lbs instead of the 245/75R16 at 3042lbs I can measure my axles if you like, my pin weight empty is just over 600lbs

What capacity was your trailer? I'm looking in the 10T range and they are from 5800-6600lbs empty. 24', 28' 30' Kaufman is what I'm looking at now. So I'm figuring at least 1k lbs pin weight empty. So If I go just on rear axle weight I can only put 2k more on it. Would put me over the 9k Dodge GVWR but as long as the axles are ok I think it'd be fine. He measured the 30' and it was 20' from the front of the deck to the center of the axles and 10' past that. So if thats true I could be good with that. The 28' was 17' and 11'7" So that seems like the best bet for me. If I ever pull anything to capacity it will probably be one big thing and over the axles instead of a bunch of little things. I would like to put a 15" storage container on the front and hang my jeep off the back though. Guess I need to see what those weigh. Pin weight is the only real concern. But I just couldn't justify a DRW.

What options for higher capacity tires are there for the truck?

You might consider getting someone to put your axles on a slider.

Yea adjustable tandems would be very nice. But it seems no one makes them. I've thought about building my own just to have them. I just don't have much spare time or the facility. Probably need bigger than the Millermatic 210 as well. Actually it'll do 3/8 in a single pass. Anyways. I think having 11.5' past the axle should be good. Have to run some numbers.

A 210 is plenty big enough. Talk to member Chaikwa, he builds truck bodies, trailers etc.

My trailer is rated for 14,000lbs with 2 7000lb axles with 8000lb springs, total weight is 3586lbs that includes the 660lbs pin weight. From the front of the 20foot deck to the center of the tandem axles is 12 feet. It has 8.5 foot HD loading ramps and HD removable fenders also included in the weight. It's constructed of rectangular tubing making it very strong, rigid and light in weight.
The tire sizes I gave were for MY truck as I didn't know what size or year yours were. If you need any more dimensions, I can get for you. There are a couple of pics in my photos.
