Trailer Fuses

Hello.

I am in the process of completely rewiring my car hauler and adding a brake away box. I have thought about adding a fuse panel inside my electrical box (ammo can) for the lights and the battery charger. I have never seen a car hauler with a fuse box, but thought it might be a good idea to add one now. Does anybody have any opinions on the is setup, or what size fuses I should install.

Thanks.

I think installing any electrical components without any protection is risky. But, fuses can be a pain. It's inevitable that one will blow when you don't have a spare. I like to use automatic circuit breakers. A little more expensive, but less hassle in the long run.

Adding fuses or circuit breakers to your trailer is a good idea.

Here is a link to some fuse blocks:

You could order one with more spaces than you need and use the extra slots for spares..

Use a plug in harness that has a connector molded on to it this will prolong its life..

A 6x6 plastic electrical J-Box makes a good box to put things in.. even a spare box of fuses would fit in it
