Get to a fabric store and buy some high density foam(memory foam). Use your electric knife to cut it to fit your desired shape. Make a zip-on duvet for it and you are good to go.

i use the 4'' foam but it's not very comfortable,i'm gonna try the air mattress or double the thickness of the foam.the good thing about the 4'' foam is you can still flip the seats up with the mattress standing up behind, just can't see out back window.

I picked up two bunk bed size rv mattresses and cut one down in length and the other in length and width, they were actually cheaper than just buying foam. I met a driver a few weeks back that had bought a memory foam mattress from sams or costco and cut it down to fit. It was like 8" thick. I found one at Walmart, but its like $180 for a twin. May be worth it for some comfort. Think I may order up that air bed and try it first too.

Just a regular single bed mattress will fit in the back.

I was thinking about the air mattress and I know when I have camped if it was cold the mattress stayed cold. So like myself when its 40 out it may make you feel cold. Just a thought...

I got tired of the air matress pretty quick... I went to a matress factory, picked out a pillow top bed I liked, and the factory "made" me a bed to simulate the real thing... with the seats folded down, I used 2 layers of 2" high density foam (the 2nd layer softer), cut behind my seat all the way to the back of the cab. Next layer I used cheap 1" foam from walmart... THEN, the top foam was the soft/squishy foam used in pillow tops (the most expensive piece)... to top it off, I purchased a pillow top matress pad at walmart ($50), which fits perfect. My bed is level with the middle console, so all I have to do is hoist myself up a bit and slide back... BY FAR THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED EVER!!!! (@ around $260 w/ pillow top pad, sheets, comforter, and 4 pillows. I mentioned that I cut from the back of my seat to the back of the cab. The foam and pillow top pad all hang over the rear seat folded down (basically hanging over the leg room)...... but thats a perfect place for my golf clubs and other storage which helps level everything out. You'll never get a hotel room again.... a good thing, cause I've spent a fortune fixin' EVERYTHING on this P.O.S

The Coleman air mattress lasted less than a month for me, it developed a pin hole which I patched and then another and another.

Now I use my foam mattress if I need to, but with the DOT cracking down on sleeping in the truck and switching to cars (I run closer to home now) I don't sleep in the truck much anymore.

I got the 6" memory foam for a double bed, cut the length to fit, the width is perfect. Added a 2" double bed size piece of egg crate foam to the top of the more dense memory foam. You can buy a futon cover, shorten it slightly, wallah - excellent mattress. I stand it up behind the seat when not in use on trips or take it out and store it in the garage. Couple of large trash bags make an excellent storage cover.

When the back seat is folded down it is not level, tilts/runs downhill toward the front. I used the foam I cut off the foam mattress length to make what I would call 'inserts' that I put inbetween the folded down seat area, levels it right up. Before I made them I kept a couple of old packing blankets in that space when the seat was folded down. They come in handy if you need something to lay on under the truck on the ground if you're having some kind of road problem.

Best way to avoid the DOT giving you grief about sleeping in your truck is to take an off ramp for a Walmart or mini mall parking lot instead of using a road side rest. Usually those small malls or Walmarts have restrooms and fresh coffee in the am, some have great restaurants too.

I also use truck stops, when logging off duty nothing says what you have to be doing or where you have to be. Just not in the truck (unless you have a DOT legal sleeper of course). Heck I have spent the day @ SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, the beach, and a waterpark then rolled on legally.

The funniest thing about the DOT is if you get caught they put you out of service and make you sit where ever you are in your truck.

I have improvised by using the mattress off a hide-a-bed. (pull out couch)

Works failry well.

The worst part is it's a couple inches long so curls up at the end.

Otherwise perfect and I allready had the couch so just swiped the mattress when I was going camping.
