Auxiliary power outlet in back seat area of MEGA CAB
Auxiliary power outlet in back seat area of MEGA CAB
An additional power outlet is available in the rear seat/cup holder area on MEGA CABs with bucket seats. Apparently the engineers really screwed up by not making this available on all seating arrangements.
Anybody put one in or have another idea. It would be nice to have power in the rear cab for the kids DVD and other stuff versus running to the console up front.

I have cupholders in the fold down arm rest area of the rear seating. Not sure where this power outlet would be on bucket seats. The owners manual may mean that it is in the back of the front console on trucks with bucket seats. I'm not sure if MEGA CABS even come with bucket seats in the rear.
He is talking about the front bucket seats with the hard console in the center. The console has an outlet on the back of it.
It is not there if you have the middle storage seat in the front. I bought another outlet and am going to install it in the lower console near the air vents if there is room. I figure since the storage area has power, there has to be wires running right under that area to tap into.

I'm not even sure you if you could mount an auxillary outlet in the rear fold down armrest. It's pretty thin and flimsy.
Opelap - I like your idea. After my last two road trips my interior needs to be cleaned up, so while cleaning things up I might have to tear into the console to see what's there.
If you happen to get around to doing the mod, please let us know (and see) how it was done.
