Brake controller not getting pedal function

Any idea(s) why the factory tow harness '03 ram 3500drw is not getting brake pedal information from the stoplight switch? Stoplight switch has been replaced....

My brake controller works in manual, but not when the brake pedal is depressed.
And yes, the ABS and Park brake lights are stuck on...
And the brake lights have a 2-3 second delay....

Thanks for the help!

As for your problem at hand. have you checked the brake switch for proper adjustment and function?

Is the truck throwing any codes?

Here's a link on how to check that:

Take your trailer plug apart and check for loose wires. I had the smae problem with a Prodigy, and that was the problem.

Do both your truck brake lights and your trailer brake lights have the 2-3 second delay?

Will check the trailer plug tonight, although I had just taken in apart and added a hot wire to it this past weekend while I was working to get the trailer brakes working; so it should theoretically be ok there. The trailer brakes haven't worked since I purchased the truck last year, and I bought a new Tekonsha voyager to replace the one that was in the truck, and my '04 had the same controller....Both controllers do the same thing. Green light when hooked up to several different trailers and full brake function when I manually slide the lever, but no brake function when depress brake pedal.
I have no power on the red wire when I step on the brake pedal.

ps. I got married in CO springs-the little gazebo in Manitou actually- and lived their a couple years; (not in the gazebo, wife wouldn't hear of it ) I'll always miss it; best climate in the world as far as I'm concerned. but too busy for me.....

River Ram:
codes include 0477- I have a pacbrake compressor that is supposedly shot, and I am hoping to use my airbag compressor to get it back in working order, but don't know how yet. Pacbbrake quoted my 800.00 for a replacement compressor so I'm up for some mindbending.....
0480- Fan 1 control circuit- truck was running hot going to Minn. a few weeks ago so I replaced fan clutch, water pump, and thermostat
0217- decreasing engine performance due to overheat condidtion- yeah, it was running hot; pretty weird actually how the temp would spike and then come back down quickly...Still running hot last weekend, but then changed the thermostat too.
2509- ecm/pcm signal intermittent-wonder what this is doing to me?

The other code is 10 00 when I do the odometer reset trick and I don't know what that means.

Is "brake switch adjustment and function" you refer to the same as stoplight switch?
Other than the main fuse panel under the hood, I don't have knowledge of other fusible links, switches or fuses location to deal with troubleshooting this problem.
Thanks for the replies,
Kevin

Yes, both truck and trailer have the delay. Brake lights only will work when ignition is on....

Yes brake / stop light switch is the same.. check the plunger that goes into the stop light switch for free travel (I had some grit get into mine that caused a hi voltage at the brake light switch code. This prevented the cruise control from working)

Check the wiring harness that plugs into the stop light switch, Did you use a pre-built factory harness to plug in the controller or splice the dodge harness to the controllers harness? ( If you did that last be sure to check the connections on them) I would unplug all connectors and inspect the terminals - die electric grease is your friend on these contact points..

I will think about the rest..sounds like some other bugs in the system and this is just one of the symptoms and not the problem..

We used the factory harness plugin for the controller install.

Found some positve terminals by the passenger battery were loose. Now the power windows work again.

but I am now showing another c code "ac 05" on top of the existing "00 10"

Broke down and went to the dealer, now I'll be broke....But happily so.
Had two bad front u-joints and a suspension recall to check and needed the computer codes cleared and checked.

They found:
Left front wheel bearings were also shot,
Right abs sensor was out.
There was an "open" in the wire going to the new rear speed sensor so they are replacing the wire.
Even though I had replaced the brake stoplight switch, they said a brake switch was bad and fuse was blown. Will have to find where these are for future reference.

$1200.00 but I will be glad to get these issues behind me, and on to the next issues!
