Brake Controller
Brake Controller
Looking for the brake controller connector on my 2004.5. There isn't a blue connector or any other spare connector where the instructions for the brakesmart controller says there is one under the dash. Anyone know where it is???
Do you have the trailer pre-wiring option? If so, it's there. I had a heck of time finding mine as well. It was tucked way up under the dash above the ebrake pedal. It was tied to another glob of wires and connector with a break-away tie wrap. I just pulled firmly and the tie wrap broke free making it easier to get to the blue plug. I have the Tekonsha Prodigy and the Dodge-specific connector so the whole thing was plug and play - except drilling the dash for the mounting bracket.
Good luck,
Neil
Good luck,

Go inside the drivers door, head at floor level. Look up along the left side above the parking brake pedal and there is a wiring harness connection with a bolt in the middle. The blue connector is sitting right on top of it. Some say the had to cut the wire wrap it's held on by, others have had to take the bolt that holds the harness connector together and remove the wire block. I was able to connect mine as it sat.
Of course as neil says, if you don't have the trailer towing package it might not be there
In that case I cant help you, good luck.

Thanks for the info. I do have the trailer towing option and I looked pretty much every where but will take another look around based on your inputs. Thanks Guys. I really appreciate the help.
Yeah buzzer you will love it. I installed mine about a week ago and towed my fifth wheel from ohio back to long island. Very smooth. Let us know what you think. I was able to connect my brakesmart without removing the blue plug, just a little tight is all.

Yes I did find it finally. It was tucked in back of the firewall insulation. Very hard to find. After poking around under the dash for about 20 minutes I saw a little blue plastic protruding from the insulation. Then it was a chore to pry it loose but it was there.
All of the trucks are wired identically and for the tow package. If you orderd the tow package you also get the pig tail that connects the controller to the connector under the dash above the e-brake pedal and you also get the seven pin connector on the rear bumper.
