To use an exhaust brake effectively on an auto, you need to lock the torque convertor either manually or with a controller. The stock TC doesn't like to take the pressure.

I run a Banks exhaust brake on my auto which has been upgraded by DTT. I have the smart controller so I can lock up the converter with the flip of a switch. Works great. No problem getting my 12,000lb 5vr slowed down hardly ever have to touch the brakes.
