I also just installed a Putnam XDR Class V receiver hitch. Nice!
Any pics of this / does it install under the factory hitch? Congrats on the new trailer!

TEXASCTD- I just finished looking at the Putnam website and they say the XDR (25211?) won't work with the factory hitch installed. Did you remove yours and if so did you jack up the bed to do it? Thanks.

Thanks on the congrats! I haven't taken any pics yet. I can take some if you want them.

If you look under your truck at the factory OEM receiver.....you will see a single cross tube that bolts to either side of the frame. In the middle they have a receiver tube welded to it. You have to remove that to make room for the Putnam XDR. But the cross tube itself, stays. Yes it is model # 25211. It is a pretty simple process to bolt it up even though the instructions are all but worthless.

The Putnam has several points on the frame where it bolts and also the rear bumper that, imo, helps take stress off of that single cross tube.

Member XLR8R helped me out a bunch by cutting that receiver off of the cross tube with a torch. The welds are not that easy to get to. Afterward I just ground it down smooth and hit it with some black paint.

The OEM receiver may have been fine, but this WW has such a tremendous PIN WEIGHT.........I just felt more comfortable putting on a 16000/1600 hitch for added safety margin and capacity. I haven't pulled it yet since the install...but I will be very soon!

I got it from here. Mine was $245.73 shipped to my door. I haven't noticed anywhere that has it cheaper so far.

Here is another thread a while back started by member Joe T. that has some comments about the Putnam XDR. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=151114

Did you buy a new one? What model is it? Tried it out yet? Do you haul ATVs or what?
