air helper springs

Has anyone tried the air helper springs. Used to keep the back end from squating so much when i am loaded heavy 25' gooseneck 20,000# do they help anything as far as handleing goes and will it actually level out your load with that kinda weight.

The airbags will definitely help. I have them in my truck, and I like them.
I have converted to a dually and put on a utility body. The truck weighs in at just over 11k before I hook to the trailer. The trailer weighs about 3k and the mini excavator weighs about 11k. With about 75 psi in the airbags the truck sits dead level while towing.
As for the handling, you will get a little bit of squirming around, nothing serious though. If you have a rear sway bar, and a good set of tires you will be fine.
If you can get the truck to sit level, it will handle better anyways.

I have used Airlift Superduty airbags for years to support my slide-in camper that weighs almost 5000 lbs with great success....never had a problem and they support very heavy loads well.

I am in the process of adding ride rite air bags to all four corners of my truck, with an on board air supply and cab mounted controls.I can't wait for warmer weather when i can install them, everyone i have talked to praised the airbags.

Hi,

I carry a pretty heavy camper on our 2500 SRW, it puts us at 11550 GVW, I put the firestone 5K air bags on. Truck is high in the back (with camper on) at 60PSI.

The Firestones were bolt on with no drilling. About $230 and 2 hours to install.

I am very happy with them. Stock ride quality when empty and awsome upside capacity.

I did not install the compressor but it would be nice to have. When hauling the heave camper it would be nice to have tighter shocks than the factory units. Now I guess I need adjustable shocks.

Regards,

Jim B

I have run several set's of air bags in the past. I decided to try a set of timbren load boosters once and haven't looked back. 15 minute's to install, put em on and forget about em, no adjusting, no blown bags, cheaper too.

I have installed Timbrens for several customers and they have all been happy with them. They aren't infinitely adjustable like an airbag, but they are a good simple overload spring booster.

If you install the timbrens with only 1/2" of clearance to the axle, do you get a harsh ride when unloaded? I'm debating bags vs timbrens, of course the tibrem salesman says - no, it'll ride great, and the bag salesman says they'll be rough............. I'd like the opinion of someone who actually has them, and run empty with them. My truck camper is 4900lbs, and I currently only use a 3" overload pad extension, but I have to take them out evertime I take off the camper or I need a kidney belt when riding empty. Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
