'98 - Brake Controller Problem

Short Version : Where do you wire the brake controller to the brake pedal so it knows when to apply trailer brakes?

Long Version: Have a tekonsha brake controller on the truck. Plugged in the trailer last night, the led on the controller glows green like it's supposed to.
But when I tried to level the connector using the power/level ****'s, the light never changes color when I apply the brake, it's like the brake pedal isn't registering on the controller at all.

The manual slide **** will apply the trailer brakes and the led turns green/orange/read when you do so.

Didn't get home until 11 so I haven't checked my connections yet, but I've always had this problem it seems. I'll probably redo the stoplight switch wire to the brake. Anyone know what/where that wire is off the brake pedal?

Thanks! I'd like it to work properly when the wife takes her turn driving...
