Brake Controller Install Problem

I am trying to install the Tekonsha P3 controller.

Here is the pigtail i got from dodge in my glove box

Here is the only harness i could find under my dash that was blue. I found it on the left side of the steering column between the dome light control and the e-brake pedal.

Those two obviously dont fit together so what am i missing? Did i get the wrong pigtail from dodge? Or do i not have the right plug?

The plug on my truck was white, and was taped up very high in the dash. What kind of brake controller did you get? Some of then have a custom plug that mounts right to the dodge wiring. MY prodigy was like that.

i got the p3. It came with a harness that should tie into the dodge (provided) pigtail in pic 1 with wire connectors. My problem is that either dodge gave me the wrong pigtail or i located the wrong mating connector under the dash. THe connector in pic 2 was way up high just below the wiring for the dome and headlight switches. However, the two connnectors dont fit togther.

My '07 has a plug that matches your pigtail. So did my '01.
I can't tell from the picture, but do the wires match in color and size? If they don't you probably have the wrong plug. The plug in my '07 harness was tucked in above the main harness plug.

When you use the harness for the p3 that is DODGE SPECIFIC it will plug straight into the harness under the dash. You don't need the pigtail that they put in the glove box (or under seat storage if you have it).

Mine was VERY hard to locate. Bright light, laying flat on back under the dash and kind of pulling on stuff to find it.

Some peoples were actually kind of hidden behind carpet. Mine wasn't, but it was TAPED to another wiring bundle under the dash. It was a pain to find.

Found it! Thanks Bob. Mine was in the same place as yours. It was way bcak behind the main harness. Thanks for the quick reply.

is the harness located on the driver's side or passenger? I've got an 06 SLT and I bought it used, did all models come with the brake control harness? The truck has a tow package, just not sure how stock it is.

thanks

The harness plugs in on the drivers side. Mine was looped up over the steering wheel linkage with a zip tie.

If the brake controller didn't come with the direct plug harness, I'd order one off ebay or something. It is really nice and clean with no splicing. Plugs straight from the back of my P3 to the factory plug by the e-brake. It took longer to decide where to mount it, than to plug it in.
