5th wheel tailgates
My last one got ripped off. I procrastinated putting on the hose clamp.
Anyway, I'm looking at this one:

It's got a lock. What's your take on a locking tailgate & integrating a lock? What are you using?
thanks

That was the same one I was looking at, I liked the locking part. Plus the price is not too bad and free shipping. Went to a truck supply in Tuscaloosa Al. and it was $4o.00 higher.

You know the 2 lower attachment points of the tailgate to the truck? The one on the right is the one that has an opening cut in the lower side of it so you lean the tailgate back to put it on. If you slide a hose clamp on over that, then put the tailgate on the truck, then slide the hose clamp to the right, the hose clamp will "cover" the opening. Walla!
Makes it a pain to take it on & off, but if you rotate the hose clamp around, you can make it so that it's really difficult to get it loose ... on purpose.

That is a great idea! Also a good lookin' 5er gate!
I just wrap a bike wire cable around my 5er gate and down around my spare and put a master lock on it... guess it also helps from easy stealing of the spare as well....
But... if they want it, they'll take it no matter what security you got on it..

That gate sure looks sharp in the photos...
If one of you guys buys one, could I trouble you to post a reply on this thread with a review?
I'd hate to order one, then find they don't seem as nice in the flesh.
Thanks.

Will do.
btw, seen 2 of them now. funny thing, once you're looking, there everywhere.
Both weren't as shiny as the one in the picture. By no means bad. As a matter of fact, probably what one would expect. The one in the pic looks polished.
I actually liked them better. I was a little worried that "chrome shiny", like the pic, may be a little too much "shine" back there.

I have a cool custom tailgate. You can see it at:
Montana Square Dancing - Dave's Stuff
Yes, the guy that made it for me does custom gates! Very cool.
