1200 degree egt when pulling on level 5

the truck has a 4 inch down pipe off the turbo and 4 inch all the way out.

Edge juice with moniter and 8k lbs on the trailer is this typical.

I let off if the egt's get above 1050 which is pretty much all the time on level 5.
I can easly hit 32psi and 1200 plus on the egt's on level 5.
seems level 3 an below the egt's stay fairly decent 900 to about 1050.

Im damm near sea level maybe 800msl here in Texas.

What are the egt's going to be up in the mountains? 2000ft msl an up?

1200 degrees is great. 1350+ is where you need to worry. My 03 had very low temps too.....

EGT's depend on where your probe is located.
If post turbo than 900-1,000 is max
Pre turbo is 1350.

The newer trucks (approx. the CP3 trucks and newer) can also handle a little more heat due to better piston cooling from oiling.

You think its cool you should have done it with out the exhaust my temps were up there in the 1300 once before i put the exhaust on and they drop almost 200 degs. I can pull my three horse silverado up the cabbage hill pass that is at 4000ft elevation and my egts settle in at 1100ish in 5th gear at 60mph.

The bigger of the mountain passes i pull over.

Lifting when you hit 1050????? You are just getting into the sweet spot !@!!!!!

You can run at 1200F , non-stop indefinately. Seriously. You wont hurt a thing.

Assuming of course, that your engine oil and coolant temperatures are in check.

Just remember that EGT is only important as an indication of piston temp - HOHN had a great post on this a while back.

That's why you can often get by with short bursts over 1400*F, and why extended operation at 1300*F can sometimes hurt the pistons, depending on the timing.

Basically, when the rate of heat input to the pistons' surface exceeds the aluminum's ability to shed that heat - the slug will overheat given enough time.

i wouldnt run above 1300 degrees on that juice. 1200 degrees seems to push it, but maybe because 1200 on my juice was 1450-1500 on my Analog autometer gauge. Not a fan of how innacurate my juice was

I set my Commander to defuel at 1350* when towing the 5th wheel. So far it has never done it even when the outside air temp was 100*.

JFYI, Edge Does Not recommend towing in the upper levels. I rarely if ever see 1000* while towing. That's on level 2.

You'll be sorry running the EGT's over 1300 for long, about the second time I did it I was at about 60mph,in 5th gear,on 7% for about 2 minutes (15k gcvw)
Bought the #6 in my sig, then made it about 30k on rebuilt VP before I needed to change that...
Going to take it easy on the ol' girl now,it can spank a D-max....but it'll cost ya!
