10,000 mile
10,000 mile
We just completed our winter trip across the south. when we left we had 1000 miles on our new 2500. Pulling into the dirveway, we have just a tad over 11K. Pulling a 30 foot Avion, we averaged 13 mpg, computed. On the guage, it showed around 11 at 70 mpg, and 13-14 at 65. I could get 15 when I held it at 55, on flat country.
On the testosterone side of things, I could take any 6% grade at 70, and pass any RV on the road. Without flooring it, ever. My wife said I was just showing off.
On another note, the city tires that came with this thing seemed to do just fine on the icy roads across NE and WY. Everybody, including the big rigs was doing 20 or less, so we just poked along with them. Only broke loose once, and I just dropped the load levelers to 2 links, to put more weight on the rear tires.
The Timbrin shocks were great, although I may still put heavier shocks on to stiffen up the boat-like ride.
TOW/Haul mode is what's happening, changes the shift points, holds back on hills, and and still upshifts to OD Doesn't try nearly as hard to pull as it does in normal drive.
The mirrors are great.
Taking it to Lithia tomorrow, to have them look at this brake light problem.
Oh, yeah, the trip odometer on the overhead console, began to work sproadically. We where using it to keep total elapsed miles on the entire trip, and it froze a couple of times.
Zero'd it, and it worked for a while, then froze again.
All in all, it was a good trip in a superbly powered vehicle, with real cab comfort. My wife looks good in it, too.

10000 miles
WY and NE: We had to GET there to tour the south, so because a brand new baby grandson was waiting in Iowa, we went across from Oregon. Usually we head for So Nevada, AZ, NM, and Texas. It was a great excuse to stop at Cabela's HQ store.
I wanted to tow for the first 5000 without the xelrator, so it isn't installed yet. and I am not going to do it myself. I wanted to have the company install it, but they never would answer my emails when I asked them if they would do it. Never once heard back from the company. Also didn't want any warranty issues if we had a problem during the first run. Now that we are sure we won't be in and out of the dealer, I will have it installed.
Milage: we never relied on the overhead guage. We always compute fuel used, vs miles driven, and use a calculator. My wife is a great navigator, keeps milage figures, and a journal of things we see and do along the way, stop and start times, etc. The overhead guage was good, though, to watch how we were doing at different speeds.
The dealer today told me it averages over 25 miles at a time.
BTW, the brake light? It was a bad REPLACEMENT bulb. If he had walked back in, and gotten another one, he might have fixed it right there.
They had it done in Klamath in about 30 minutes.

south Eastern Oregon, not near anywhere, actually. Can get to Reno, Boise, Klamath Falls, medford. I am going to talk to a local Deisel mechanic who does all the ranch equipment around here. I heard he does them, but won't know until tomorrow.
Just wait until everything is installed. I think the same thing every morning since my Commander is set to keep the module off until I reach 150* water temperature, the truck feels great until the power comes on, then I don't even bother with stock.
