$3200 to $4000 for an A618 heavy duty Transmission overhaul?

$3200 was for a heavy duty rebuild with a single clutch disc torque converter, $4000 for a 4 clutch disc torque converter! I'm in Arizona. This sounds like a really high price to me! Has anybody here in Arizona done a heavy duty overhaul with a reputable shop for a reasonable price?

I see a link to Goerend here and with their warranty, this seems worth it even though it's going to be costly!

You can easily spend $6,000 for a built tranny.

Goerend list price for a triple disc 48RE built, is $3950... plus $1000 core charge.

This is not a ton more than you were quoted.

DTT is Diesel Transmission Technology. They are in Sardis B.C. Canada. You can call and see if they have a local installer in your area. Their website is
www.dieseltrans.com .

Thanks Prattman. I will just keep looking in the Arizona area for a builder down here. I found PR Transmission here in Mesa on Alma School rd in mesa and I will look into them a bit more..................

I may have to sell one of my cars in order to afford this so I'm prepping for spring! We will have a couple of Garage sales to dispose of everything we don't want to take with us.

Actually it appears that my first estimates are not that bad! I know going up the ALCAN is going to be tough and I want a well built trans!
