Are any of you boys in between Lebanon/Mount Juliet and Portland/Gallatin on a regular basis? I keep seeing a couple of sweet Cumminses, and I wonder who they are. Of course I give 'em the "two-finger-steering-wheel-wave" when I see them.

deereguy, there ain't nothing wrong with cheap. Our explorer had the temp gauge go out not long after we bought it(used) so I went to the parts house and bought a gauge and put it in on the dash, it lit up and everything. Saved having to buy a cluster from the ford dealer, paying ford dealer to diag(their way) I tried the sender and that was not it, figured simple thing first(back before I had my scan tool).

Best one yet, our saturn.......250k I guess. Check engine lights been coming on for about 2.5 years. I did the diag on it about then and found it has an egr code coming on. Egr valve opened by vacuum......or something, anyhow. I find out the car only has about 7in on vacuum at idle and not much better when higher idle. I've been adding oil weekly for 5-6 years, GM's thing is carboned up rings(which my saturn has). So one night on the way home from work, tired of the light in my eyes it was time to unleash the Sharpie!!! Color in check engine light and problem solved.......cheapest repair I've made to date!!!! Kinda bad coming from an ASE/GM Master Technician huh! Oh well, I don't have other peoples money.....just the peanuts and crumbs left over.

Shawn, I am driving a 98 SL2 daily now and the Cat went bad. I didn't have enough money to put a new one on, so I emptied it out. I hate that little check engine light, lol. One of these days i'll fix it right. Life's been crazy here. Not that I have the time, but I got a new project, It's a 1952 Studebaker 2-ton. I'm planning to put a d70/d60 combo in it with a cummins. It should be a fun "little" truck when I'm done... bet it'd be a hit at the pulls, lol.

That should be a good project and a cool lookin truck. Check engine light woes, don't like the sharpie.....electrical tape works wonders as well. If you have a bit more time removing the light bulb from the cluster is permanent!!

I just sold a rear trunk light assembly to a guy in mid west some place for a 99 SL2. Ain't been to crazy around here. Been trying to drum up some side work for the biz, working like mad at day job......two mechanics for millions of dollars worth of equipment. Works out good when nothing major happens, but the last couple weeks everything has gone wrong. Got big projects laying all over the place trying to get done between the "we need this 1st thing in morning" jobs at 4pm in the afternoon.

I'd say we could get together but who wants to drive far for that, like you guys but I won't even go visit relatives now. My daughter usually goes up to my aunts house in the summer for a few weeks. Cancelled that $500-600 fuel only trip, my Aunts expense, approx $400 or better for gas to pick up my kid. Airline? Well since I saw the news on how the airline lost a child that they were paid extra for to supervise.....that ain't happening. Soooooo, looks like I'll stay tucked away in my little corner of the world spending as little as possible so I can forward all that money to my gas tank in my car that is 13 years old and get the same gas mileage as cars of today..... Cause that makes sense.......

Ok, well not to sure how I got off on that tangent but glad its out!! Hope ya'll are doing alright, maybe someday we'll actually meet up again, somehow....maybe....uhhhhh

Well, was actually in downtown this last monday. Last friday......the 13th no less our district manager came in and I was the first one on the chopping block, "we're eliminating your position in the beginning phase of closing this store." Sounded so official, I laughed in there faces and said, "well, not like we did'nt see this coming two months ago". Then the customary paperwork, all I heard was, "blah, blah, blah" and wanted to get the heck out of there so I could go get my truck and get my toolbox and get to work on making some money.

When asked what I was gonna do I said, well now I've got plenty of freetime to concentrate on my business and not worry about yours(not that I did). Could'nt get my toolbox, had to go up to Nashville on Monday so figured I'd do it then. Went there(Franklin) to get my box and ex-boss says, "you do any job hunting this weekend??". With the oddest look I could manage I said, "why???? I'm my own boss, laborer etc, etc." He said he thought I may have changed my mind......uhhhhhhh, that's a big fat....NOPE.

So, this last week has been busy. With the saving grace of one fella who connected me with some work that is relavant to my business(Thank you fella) Things should work out, I'm happier, wifes happier...kids. Drivin the wheels off my truck though, almost 600 miles this week. That's a bunch for me in recent years.

So, long story long Mark, yeah I may be in Nashville from time to time doing some jobs. Nothing lined up for next week yet. There was something about a guy calling me for a job but that was south of Nashville. Going to work on an old Ford 6.9L diesel Monday morning, guy wants to sell it but figures it's better if it can start and run.....don't sound promising however. Heck, with what I'm doing and what your doing we may bump into each other out there on the jobsite.

Oh well, hope all is fine with everyone and their families. Getting close to the 4th of July........which would be fun in years gone by but them speculators and investors pushing up the oil prices so they can have $5 per gallon by the 4th is killin me. I can tell ya I won't be driving and spending money on tourist junk, eating out, buying fireworks and so on. No off shore drilling! Don't tax the oil companies! Seems like them guys and gals up in Washington don't accomplish anything anymore.

Dodgeguy i hate to hear that about your job. Sure is a fine time for that to happen with everything goin through the roof on prices. Been trying to do as many jobs as I can to make money these days.

Went to the pull at Hazel Green pull this past Friday and Sat night. Turned out to be a real good pull. Frien dof mine got to pull last night with the only diesel truck in the Pro Mod 4wd truck class. Didn't win but the truck ran great. Jus got to do a small thing before this weekend and see how it does in Sparta, Tn.

I am still here. Looking at a dual disk clutch, actually. Are there any pulls around the mid-state soon? Anyone going to Scheid's pull in August?
