I'm still here, been posting around here a bit at times. Think I hit a nerve with Timmay on another thread about techs doing side work. Been over at a welding site getting info and guidence. I may end up (a) going back to school so I can burn there welding rod and use their steel or (b) talking to the local Pipefitters Union. I will however not be going back to turning wrenches, sickens me to think about it. I have a few leads though, got a heads up from a fella about a job that'll train welders. Kinda looking forward to that one. Probably end up being on the road but the money I have been hearing about will make it worth it, unlike my previous "peanut" job at the circus.

Well, I took my stacks off. Several heavy loads, bleeding ears and so on and then throw in the fact that I am in more direct contact with clients and felt that out of respect and proffessionalism I needed to loose the excessively loud stacks. Put my old system back on(straight pipe of course) and WOW!! I can hardly hear the thing now. The times I thought it was loud through town before I did the stacks and now it's not. The cab is more pleasant, went to Nashville yesterday for the first time without the stacks and it was nice. Turn the radio **** just a little and you can hear it, talking on the phone with the windows down and no problem. Miss the stacks but oh well, my eardrums are much happier. I'll probably end up cutting my three inch near the rear axle and buying another piece of 5" pipe and make my own duals out the back. The old stacks are being auctioned at......well you know where. Hopefully I can move them on and let someone else's ears ring for awhile.

I also sold my cab rack that used to be on the previous form of the truck. I did'nt get what I would have liked but the guy sent me pics of his sons truck with them on and it looked good. It was neat to know that my rack was riding around in another state someplace, should have put a plate on it with my name and number....."custom built cab racks" or something!!

Well, off to build my sons bed. Bought a bunk from a furniture store, unfortunatly it won't fit in his room because it has drawers on the end and to get them open the room really has no good place(closet doors, entry door, window) so time to get out the woodworking tools and alter the design and make it work and look nice.

There is a pull in Hillsboro Friday and Saturday night. Fri night will be a Mid Tenn. assoc. pull and Saturday night will be a Mid South assoc. pull. Fri night there will be a diesel truck class. Saturday I know of one diesel for sure that will be pulling with the open modified 4wd gas trucks. May possibly be others but I'm not positive.

No my truck will not be there. Still getting parts together. I am closer than I was though. I have to get a transfer case and rear driveshaft is all I have left to get. Then jus put it all in and go pulling. LOL My new valair clutch should be here today or tomorrow. We will see how it holds up once I get everything going again.

I was looking into a valair for mine cause it would do the same horsepower at half the price of the competition. You'll have to keep us informed on how it does under the gun.

new to Tn.

Hi guys, just moved to Celina from central Fl. (Of course it seems like everyone I've met around here is from Fl.) Any way I was wondering if there was a Tenn. guru so to speak that every one goes to when they can't figure out a problem on their own. Just looking for new contacts in my new area. Not having trouble @ the moment. Thanks for any info. E

If I had more business and more money I'd advertise on the side of your truck with some funds as a sponsor......but, lack of the above mentioned monetary wellness will not allow me to do so. If I get on with the people I applied with yesterday and after 5 years of apprenticeship I would be financially qualified to donate to your cause......won't help now will it!

I applied at the Pipefitters Local. I've talked to the Boilermakers, Ironworkers, Sheetmetal workers Unions and Pipefitters. The Ironworkers, well I'm not scared of heights or falling it's the sudden stop that concerns me, so not for me. Sheetmetal workers, not a hole bunch of welding. Boilermakers, my Uncle was a boilermaker....not for me. Pipefitter=welding and tricky welding at that, which is a challenge plus the math and so on so that's where I'm concentrating my efforts.

If I get on I'll start out at the bottom of the barrel as an apprentice and then do training at the Union hall, OJT and so on for 5 years then I'll be a Journeyman. Sounds excellent, the benefits, good and pay starting out is lower than what I'm used to but I have to start somewhere. I really enjoy the welding. Actually would not mind chasing the pipeline as they say cause that's where the money is at according to others out in the field. If I can make it to Journeyman that will double my income compared to the mechanic field and that's just 5 years. Can't make that money as a grease monkey, I've tried.

I won't have my scatter shield finished before Friday, so no. I am gonna be there, though. I hope to see some good trucks. I think this is the first year diesel trucks have been allowed.

they got a pull at the maury county fair this thursday night at 7pm. the add in the paper said something about, "Attention Truck Owners" bring it to the pull, farm trucks, work trucks, junk trucks and so on. I would'nt mind heading out to that one if it don't cost me an arm and a leg to get in for it. It's a $15 hook fee over there. More info call 931-381-2900

Unfortunately any chances of my truck hooking to a sled have slipped away, as much as she weighs now all I need to do is hook a sled to the back of it.

New pics,

Actually missing some stuff on the bed, extra pieces of steel, ladder, vise.....she's heavy..
