TNDTR Chapter #34 Discussion thread
I just called and talked to Chris Newsom (spelling?). He said the balancer sheild is no big deal. Just have something under the balancer to keep it from hitting the ground if it blows. He said he did not know of any way to hook up a kill switch on a 2nd gen 24 valve. Any ideas on the kill switch?

Seems like you should have some sort of fuel shut off on the Injection pump, key is to find out how the ignition switch shuts it off and wire in somehow a switch that would kill the power but still allow you to start with ignition. Just thinking off the top of my head.
What year is it exactly? I have a book for 2002 and it has all the schematics in it. If I have time between job, business's and ebay, not to mention family I'll look and see what I can find. I like electrical......so much fun!!!

My truck is a 98.5 with the mods in my sig. Would shutting off the fuel feed to the vp damage it? I do not plan on breaking free from the sled, but you never know. I would hate to ruin the pump if for some reason I did need the switch.
I talked with Ryan Bean of Bean's Diesel Performance who has a CR Cummins in a 2002 Ford F-350 and and he said that he wired his kill switch up to the ECM Fuse?? Dont really know how he did it, but I guess you send a hot wire to the ECM Fuse and if the switch activates it, it would blow the ecm fuse. But you might call Bean, he might be able to shed some more light. He is in Woodbury, TN. Oh by the way, that CR Ford he has is a bad dude, over
600 hp and it will drag that sled!!!

Maybe he put it inline with the fuse to cut power to the fuse? Basically you want to do what the key does, but with your kill switch. I'll look tomorrow if I can, have gotten busy with cars to fix again, throw in the fact that I started a biz.........it's hard to get sleep anymore. I have heard it's over rated though!
In March for our dyno day....I'll have a couple vendors there and I know of one that will have some stuff for our 1st place smoker!!

All right, I can understand switching a vital fuse. Now, I just need a switch to mount on the back of the truck. You must be able to attach a cable from the sled to it, and in the event of separation, the cable will pull the switch to break the circuit. Any ideas of where to find such a switch?
Maybe like this one?

Good pull in Springfield tonight. Mark, I thought you were going to pull. Missed seeing you. Chris Newsome won with a 300+' pull. That's one bad truck! 2nd went to a fella from Dickson with a hot 12K lb Ford dually at 271', and 3rd went to Joe Underwood from Dickson at 266'. I'm sure they'll all be at Dickson next Thursday.

Scott, it just didn't happen for me. i wasn't even able to make it to the pull! i got registered to go back to college online middle of last week and have been working my butt off (9am-10:30pm) thursday to try and catch up so i am not behind the whole semester. along with that trying to work and be at least a decent husband i just can't afford to brake the truck right now. are you planning on coming the Sept 8 meet?

JS, that looks like it'll work. I'd say that garden tractor kill switch is probably like a tractor pulling kill switch, looks the same. Still trying to check out that book, like I said, it's an 02 book so not to sure on how it will compare with what you have.
Basically the wire that sends power to the ecm or your ignition you would want the switch inline so your voltage is running through the switch that way when the cable is pulled(hopefully never) it'll cut the path for the voltage, killing the motor. I may have about 15 minutes to check an ignition schematic today.......maybe
