Rules are meant to be broken.

I really do love coming to this site. Lots of friendly people, lots of knowledge, no drama.

From the time that I started to use this web site, I have always been treated fairly, with no bias one way or another. I respect others, others respect me. I'm glad that I can let my wife read this forum and not be offended. I appreciate all the hard work that the administrators do, and all the info that the members have provided. This is a great, clean, grown-up forum compared to others that I have been on, lets keep it that way.

Proud to be a member.

And that is why it a a great site. People help one another, treat each other civily, joke, have fun, laugh, cry, and compare pedicures But it is all the way it is because there are rules, that are enforced equally for everyone. That is what helps it stay a great place to hang out online. To learn, teach, or have a little fun. And it seems to me that I am usually doing all three (usually easy on the teaching, but every once in a while I sneak one in there.)

NO complaints on this behalf

granted i do admit at times i do get a bit edgy.. Now on some points i saw..

Abhor, is simply a word that means extreme dislike.

Newbies? Everyone was new to this site at one point or another, WHy not make them feel welcomed so that in turn they will bring more member to our community which bring knowledge from not just cummins, but other vehicles and platforms as well? This will make us more information rich, grow in a positive direction and all will benefit from this.. I love answerin questions for new guys, And i want to make them feel as welcomed as I was when i first got hear (yall notice my repeat posts and several edits and redos around) I love it! thats why i post it...

Infraction system, i aint even worried about it, Post here long enough and u will know whats right and whats not right, People will also learn who the gurus, the goofballs, and the regulars are, in either case theres a good balance of them on here, and they are what keep DTR unique for everyone around here. Everything on here is fair warning, least in my opinion it is.. The mods do not do something to anyone without having a reason to or not...

Many peoples rides have evolved because of this website and many people have learned how to better care for their CTD's Why put an end or bash something that is such a good thing going?

Ill be a part of this site so long as i drive a CTD (or so long as im allowed to be on here) and contribute what i can to make it as friendly, informative and fun as possible for everyone who reads my posts, again i dont mind answerin repeat questions.. Its not hard to do...

Thanks mods, thanks friends, and members for makin this the homepage on every comp I have access to..

Respectfully

Rick

Good post, Rick. I agree with what you've said. I'm not on here nearly as much as I used to be, but I don't mind anwering questions of new users and old ones alike. The search feature works well, but I get annoyed when people bash the newbies. They don't know if they searched or not and even if they did, it doesn't always mean they're going to find the answer.

I've hung out here for a while now, and just came across this thread! As I read the post I get in insite into the some personalities--what makes people tick. I appreciate the work many do to keep this thing working.

As I read I was reminded of church. When you're ready to join you're usually presented with a constitution. If there is something in it you're seriously opposed to, you shouldn't/don't join.

Or when I played basketball. The court was always the same length, width, the goal was the same height. Overseas the free-throw lane was tapered. That was the only difference, international rules.

That's something I got out of sports, it's nice to have rules and parameters. And oh, when you fouled out there wasn't a conference to see if you could get back in the game.

I've copied off several threads that apply to my particular truck. I punch holes and insert them in a 3-ring binder for future reference. I appreciate the help I get on this site, and the format, and the openess.

Most every time I get on the net I think of how life would be without Al Gore inventing it! Oh, Lord, I'd be ignorant.

Here are some of the common infractions with their associated point values. Some violations will get a warning for the 1st offense.

Foul Language = 2 points (1st offense is a warning, no further warnings are issued)
Inapropriate Links = 2 points (1st offense is a warning, no further warnings are issued)
Signature Violations = 2 points (1st offense is a warning, no further warnings are issued)
Insulting another Member = 2 points (no warnings are issued)
Distasteful Avatar = 3 points (1st offense is a warning, no further warnings are issued)
Innapropriate Post = 3 points (1st offense is a warning, no further warnings issued)
Flaming/Arguing = 3 points (no warnings issued)
Advertising in forums (non-vendor) = 3 points (1st offense is a warning, no further warnings are issued)
Advertising in forums (vendor) = 4 points (no warnings issued)
Unsolicited advertising using the PM system = 4 points (no warnings issued)
Severe inapropriate Links (direct links to **** sites, etc) = 5 points (no warnings issued)

I am just wondering....I recieved a 2 point assessment for foul language....it was my first infraction if you will....I did not recieve a warning. From what I read on the first page....is a warning not given first and if it continues....points are awarded.....just wondering....maybe I read it wrong....

I thought I was wrong before....but I was mistaken

Great site.....I do "try" to play nice with others lol

Remember the small print at the bottom of the page "Even though some offenses can get a warning, we can bypass the warning and go straight to infraction. This is for repeat offenders, users who have been notified of or shown the rules already, etc.". I don't know your situation personally, but I'm sure if a correction is in order, one will be made.

Don't worry about it, DeTree - I also got a "foul language" 2-pt. infraction last year for posting a 5-letter word that I didn't realize was a bad word, and I didn't remember ever getting a warning for language prior to that either.

I think outside of the obvious filthy language, the allowed content of posts is somewhat up to the discretion of the mods - so the best thing is to err on the side of "G" rather than "PG-13".

Where the problem lies is that some people just do not understand what "profanity on this site will not be tolerated" actually means.

This is stated clearly in the forum rules each of you agreed to abide by when registering here. If you receive an infraction it is because YOU choose to ignore that and not because anyone at DTR caused this problem for you.

Or because some people have different definitions of "profanity" than others.
