TRCM,

The difference is that gentleman posted information, you posted a blatant ad, (I know I just removed the second one). You even included what looked like your phone number and asked people to call you to order those things.

Big difference between posting info and actively trying to sell product on this forum.

sorry, but that is NOT my phone number. and my name is NOT John. I do believe yu have my name in the info I had to fill out when I joined this site.

I posted it because the parts are not listed on the site, and you MUST call to get just the switches. I also explained that in the post.

I found out that the switches could be bought without having to buy a complete defroster system (over $180 bucks) from a friend who called them and asked. he was told that they could be ordered, but that you would have to call to do so.

I fail to see how what I posted could be even remotely considered a blatant ad.

Sorry for trying to help out my fellow members by giving them the info they needed to order something from a company I have nothing to do with !!!

Nobody has a CLUE who you are, you messed up and posted the email that guy sent you so it looked like it was your ad plain and simple. You were sent a warning, a simple reminder of the rules so you would not do it again.

Nothing to get your shorts all in a wad about Just make your own posts instead of copying and pasting and that stuff would not happen

Problem solved carry on, be happy

OK....I think this has been resolved.

I am posting this because there have been a lot of IM's flying around as a result. In hindsight, as a mod on a different board, I should have taken this directly to IM, but I was actually pretty stinking mad (because I thought I was doing something good, but is in reality, I was breaking the rules - whether I knew it or not), and let my anger get the best of me. This is an attempt to apologize to the mods for my behaviour, and to any other members who may have read my previous rant in this board

We all get angry and do things from time to time we wish we hadn't, and for me, this is one of those times
.

Yes, I was angry because I felt I was being accused of something I did not do. At the time the post had been deleted, I could not go back and read it to see what the problem was. When TOP sent me the post, I immediately saw what was making them think I was selling these items.

I did a cut & paste of an email I recieved from a company selling a product I felt many on here would like to have. When I did this, I failed to read it close enough, and in one sentence, it said "contact me", which made the admins think I was selling the product. This is not the case.

I did go on to say I bought some of these items, and to tell the customer service rep I said to call. I did this simply because I told him there had been a lot of people on here (altho I didn't actually name the site) looking for just this kind of part for their towing mirror swaps.

I think if I had deleted that one line from the original email I posted, it would have been ok. But I missed it. MY mistake, plain and simple.

I was angry when I made this post because I felt I was being accused of doing something I didn't do. Once the post was shown to me, (sorry, I can't remember every word of my posts from day to day - old age thing), I realized that the reason for them thinking that was my mistake, not theirs.

I DO still have concerns regarding the infraction system, as someone could very easily miss-state something and end up with points that never go away. So you could possibly end up getting banned several years from now for things you did years before. I feel it would be better if the points dropped off after a year or so. People change, and someone who may get a lot of points this year may have a change of heart, and then a few years from now make a mistake like I did, and get banned from this awesome site. I mean, even drivers license points don't stay on your record forever.

Anyway....I unknowingly made a mistake, and as a result, my post was deleted/locked according to the site rules. I know to check my posts more closely in the future.

Sorry admins.........

Sorry admins.........
One good thing about the Infraction System is that if we give an infraction by mistake (it can happen, we're only human ), the infraction can be reversed.

I know that!!! That is the only reason that I bothered to post the name of my company. You made my point precisely!!

Apology accepted and you need not be so concerned with the infraction system, as we are in complete control of it.

No one gets banned without our approval and as long as a person is willing to discuss the issue rationally like you did, that won't happen. Only people we can't deal with get banned. Spammers are the only banned no questions asked people around here.

I'm glad this thread is still active, and not being locked down; with all of the new members joining daily, it makes a pretty good sticky for everyone to understand what a G-rated, no-spam site actually means.

All of this talk about points and posts and people getting banned kinda makes me wonder....

I know it has been asked before, but is there a way o check to see if you have points or whatever? I don't think I have eer recieved any warnings so I'm assuming I'm A-OK but I'd really like to know.

If I did something wromg at some point and didn't know about it, I'd sure as heck like to fnd out so I can not do the same thing again.
