Wow, I didn't know I was being graded. Never looked in this part of DTR. That is great, I have no problem with it. Good for DTR.

Best managed site I have ever been a part of. Was on a couple of gamer sites for years, not nearly as well managed. Got out o hand many, many times.

Thanks Jack, for all you do.

Nice avatar too. Used to raise German Shepherds in Houston. How old is he/she?

I got 10 points for refering to dealers as something that rhymes with "dealer" but is synonmous with "thievery". That seems over the top. It's not a cussword or foulmouthed. Most people refer to them as such in humorous jest.

You are confused, those 10 points are the ones you start out with on the user reputation system, it has NOTHING to do with the infraction system.

On a side note, many uneducated people refer to dealers in the manner you suggested simply because they charge so much for parts. The simple truth is that they are doing NOTHING illegal and as such they are NOT thieves.

If you do not like the prices they charge, don't buy from them..you have the choice to purchase from whomever you wish. Accusing someone of "Stealing" something from you is an entirely different matter.

Sorry I got them mixed up. Lighten up a little sheeesh!! You don't know anything about my education. I'm not one of these guys who complains about having to pay a dealer for hooking a computer up to my truck and doing 15 minutes max of button pushing on a computer. I realize they have a lot of overhead. It was meant in jest with regards to the gimmick warranties they sell on new cars.

I see that dealer slang a lot and it makes absolutely no sense to anyone who knows the difference between a thief and free enterprise. If you fall into that category then it is a safe assumption you just don't know any better and as such "Not Educated" on the subject...It is not intended as an insult toward whatever your back ground may be.

I recently received a 3 point infraction for 3 posts made within a few days of each other.

In one post I said the "D" word (like dang) and noticed it was asterisked out after posting. I figured the censor filter caught it so there was no need to edit out the asterisks.

In another post I made a bad joke in response to someone who was kidding around. The post was one short sentence and basically contained 80% asterisks (intentionally). I had consumed a little rum that night and I agree, I shouldn't have made the post.

The last was a post where I quoted someone else and responded. Apparently his post had a semi-bad word and was edited by a mod. I got nailed just for quoting the guy who posted before me because a mod had to edit the quoted part in my post.

I understand the rules and try to follow them. I've never made a post where I used special characters to spell a bad word. If I posted a bad word and the filter didn't catch it, I edit it out as soon as I realize the mistake.

What I didn't understand was that even asterisks from the filter are not allowed, and you also get in trouble for quoting someone who you don't even realize said something bad/wrong. I assumed that if I said a bad word and the filter caught it, then all was good. I had no idea the mods actually went around and edited the asterisks out of people's posts. There doesn't seem to be much difference between the asterisks and the red type "edited by mod" tag.

Anyway, IMO 3 points for the above reasons was kind of harsh, although I understand why a mod would make that decision. Those are the rules and I'm not here to argue about them. What really stinks though is that the 3 points will never expire and the infraction is shown in my public profile for everyone to see (forever).

A couple days after all this happened I decided to buy a Smarty. Because of the bad taste left in my mouth by this permanent infraction, I chose to buy the Smarty from a vendor other than DTR. I have always supported DTR by buying whatever I could from their store, but I'm not sure how you guys can expect to keep "customers" you have permanently penalized.

Is a company name you are affiliated with and a link to it considered advertisement?

Scratch may last question...I was searching through the rules and found this post, so what does it cost to have a business name linked and if its a paid for link, can the link be product specific rather than just the company name?

Matt 400,

I own a company called Edited by admin here in Northern Ca.

My company has nothing to do with diesels nor would it do me good to advertise here. (I've offered then reconsidered)

Should your company befifit from being mentioned in your sig then I certainly can see the point. Advertising in your sig is not permitted per site rules.

Rick
