12v, 24v section...

Perhaps it could be great to split the 2nd gen section into a 12v and the 24v section.. It could be easier to find our way into the threads...

Most of the 12V performance stuff is posted under the 12V forum.

The rest- intakes, exhaust, guages are pretty much the same as the 24V stuff.

Yes, there are only two performance sections currently. One for the 3rd Gen and one for the 2nd Gen.
The 1st Genners were combined all into one forum.
We do this to minimize the number for forums on the page.
Ultimately, the number of forums is the decision of Jack, but he (and us Mods) like to keep things clean and simple.

I dont see the 2nd or 3rd Gen Performance section being broken out any further... yet. But like I said, its ultimately up to Jack.
If enough members want a separate 12 and 24 valve Performance section, perhaps Jack will consider it for a future change.

What's the real difference between 2nd gen 24 valve and 3rd gen 24 valve, anyway? There isn't much engine wise at all, is there?

I've never understood why the performance sections aren't divided into first gen, 1994-1998.5, then 1999-current... But I don't know the first thing 'bout 24 valves anyways, so I'm just typing because I like the clickity noise the keys make when I touch them...

What changed? They went to common rail injection?

A lot of other stuff changed too when they did that? I don't have any clue; I haven't had a reason to read any 24 valve stuff for years.

Yes, mainly the fuel system...I dont know the third gens very well but the main differences are the common rail injection/CP3 IP/different lift pump/different transmissions/different intakes/different exhaust/...the list goes on.

Anyway,

We now return you to your regularily scheduled program....

For what my opinion is worth, I like the performance and accessories they way they are, as was brought out earlier a lot of it is the same for 12v and 24v. Especially the accessory end of things. But even a lot of performance mods are similar, or even the same

And lots of people also know about both, so it gives things more exposure when the forums are not as broken up.

The '03+ Dodge/Cummins has an injection system almost identical to the '01 - '07 Duramax's, and the '07 6.4L PSD's.

It's also nearly the exact same as every diesel on the road in Europe....
