Megacab SRW to DRW
If you didn't buy the extended warranty - at 36K your drivetrain warranty is over and then the drivetrain stuff becomes your own out of pocket expense. All you would have left warranty-wise after the 36K mark is the engine and fuel system for 100K.
I crossed the 36K Rubicon this month.

I think all they could void is the warranty on the parts you change, as in, no longer on the truck so no warranty on them. As far as what parts remained, like the drive shaft, etc - they might/could get a little sticky about them, but I would probably remind them that all you have done is change to what they sell on their DRW's as stock, should be not different now that the rear axle has been changed as the rest is the same on both SRW and DRW.
YOUR QUESTION is what kept me from making the change sooner. Now I have no real reason not to make the change since my drivetrain warranty is done, gone, history and ALL MINE from here on out.
Since some people do the DRW with spacers on both ends, I suppose you could easily switch back to SRW wheels, remove the spacers, and pop on your stock tires if you had a problem??? It might look funny with the DRW fenders, but would satisfy Chrysler as far as warranty on things.

Well, I found someone in Wyoming that wanted to do the swap and it turned out great!
The hardest part was getting the 'hub-centric' wheels off...it took us 4 hours! Other than that, it was pretty easy. We had a little problem with the e-brake cable, the manual didn't outline the process of removing them, but we worked it out.
We ended up swapping the entire rear axle since we knew it would swap easily. All I have to do now is work out the wireing for the marker lights on the new bed.
Here are some pics:

Looks great! A lot better now than in the before pic!!!!
Neight, I'm in Texas. Next time you get the bug to go SRW I'll drive out to ya and swap with ya! That is if you have 3.73's and want some BFG 315's.

I would like to convert mine to a dually if anybody wants do some trading. I am out of St. Louis MO. I have an 03 3500 SWB SRW. My number is 314-226-6420 or my email is joe.difranco@yahoo.com I have all the tools and a 10K lift.

Can anyone chime in that has actually swapped axles shafts and not complete axle assemblies? I am trying to buy parts from REDLINEAR and he swears the outers are completely different between as srw and drw and not interchangeable. From everything I have read, the axle assemblies are the same between a SRW and a DRW except for
-Longer Axles Shafts
-Spacer ( I call it a spacer, Redlinear calls it the hub)
My plan was to buy axle shafts and spacers/hubs from Redlinear to convert my truck from a 3500 SRW to a 3500 DRW. Redlinear says these parts are not interchangeable. Has anyone actually done the conversion this way?
