Question 04.5 wastegate adjustment

trying to help out dodchall70 here is the link to the previous thread https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=209199 i think the problem is the W/G on the truck opening and not lettin it build past 30psi since it can be reached at stock settings as well as with the smarty jr...... so how do you adjust the wastegate on a 04.5 CTD? dodchall70 has also tried a boost fooler with no change. is 30psi all a 3rd gen can get on a stock turbo? Thanks for the help!!

You have to modify the boost signal going to the turbo and have a boost fooler so the ECM does not see the higher boost. The attached PDF is from the TST install instructions from 2004.5 when they 1st released TST for the HO model.

You can plumb a wastegate ball spring controller inline and adjust the boost to whatever you want. You can also put washers under the wastegate head to shim in forward, pushing it farther from the lever arm assembly and put more preload on the gate.

You can put vice grips on the silicone line.

You can mechanically limit/stop the movement of the wastegate using wire, turnbuckle or large spring.

04.5 turbos have been pushed to 50 psi. They make more power above 40 psi than they do below.
