i want it to start right up like my old 1st gen rotary pump did!. i know these trucks did when they were new. does taking the fuel plate out have anything to do with it?

'Bout the only think you can do is raise the idle speed. The VE on the 1st gens governor holds WOT untill about 400rpms when the flyweights come up to speed. That's why a 1st gen starts so fast and has a little puff. The p-pump is at idle when not running. I believe it even says in the owners manual to give a little pedal pressure when starting.

The P-pumped motors do like you to depress the pedal when starting.
As the motors get older the idle sometime will get lower in RPMs making it worse.
It is an easy fix to raise the idle and it will make the truck start better without using the pedal.
Do a search on "P-pump idle adjustment"
It is a one wrench affair.
That makes sense [G1625S] as those 1st gens do start so fast!
