Wheels and tires!

I NEED some new wheels and tires.. I have been looking at the weld mountain crushers however are they really worth that much more??? I am also looking at Mickey thompson Classic Lock ( simulated bead lock) and also some various american racing and eagle alloys. Anyone have any recomendations for wheels which brands are good and which are crap. Size is 17"

Now tires... I like the BFG MT's, the goodyear wrangler MTR's, Parnelli Jones dirt grips, and the mickey thompson Baja claw radials. the size will be 35X 12.5R17 any recomendations on the tires??? there will be no pulling done with these. The truck is just a toy ;D However mileage from the tires is an issue!! ;D

Thanks
Ian

American Eagle are great rims. I personally prefer the Yokohama tires they seem to have alot more grip on wet pavement.

I don't know how crazy of a set of wheels you want but like FOOSE, or Neeper make some really trick stuff. Alcoha also makes great rims. I have had Michelin tire, and goodyears on before but I think the Yokohamas are the best ones yet.

Re:Wheels and tires!

weld wheel are excellent as well as most of the other manufacturers. one thing to remember is u must maintain the load rating of the wheel and tire, or get real close. As far as tires go if u are looking for lots O mile stay away from the micky's they are nice but dont last long. never used the yokahamas but i am currently running michilens on my current truck(chevy) like them alot but pricy. i have use BFG's on my old dodges and was always happy with them. I did not like the good for a years though so i wont recomend them.

Re:Wheels and tires!

Im runnin Goodyear wrangler MTR's and Im really happy with their performance. I previously had Micky T's and although they were a good tire they didnt last as long as I would have liked :'(. My Goodyears already have about 25 k on em and they have hardly shown any wear ;D. They handle great in mud, sand, and snow and they have a real agressive look too .
Good luck
Wheels

Re:Wheels and tires!

I have 16x10 Weld Stonecrushers with 315/75R16 BFG AT's

Only had them for 3 months-ish, so I can't comment on the wear factor of the tires yet, but I've had them on every truck I've owned and have been happy with the wear factor.

I don't like the fact that the BFG's only came in a "D" rating instead of an "E", but the weight of the D's is more than some E's I've seen, just less sidewall plys, so they bulge a bit.

Probably going to go with something in an E next time I buy tires.

The Welds only offered a 3.625" or 4.625" backspacing which wasn't quite the 7" that the factory wheels had, I went with the 4.625 since it was closer to the 7, the wheels stick out 3 inches from under the fender.
The Welds can handle 3200 lbs, which is plenty, since the tires can handle 3000 (something like that), would rather have the tire fail, at $200.00 than the wheel at $350.00

The only thing I don't like about the Welds, so far, is since they are 2 piece, there is a gap(?) in the middle of the wheel where water pools, gunk gets trapped, hard to keep the wheel clean.
Other than that, I love the wheels.

I need to take a closeup pic of the wheels, but here's my pics in the members photos, you can see them on the truck in a couple of them.
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/....php?album=149

phox

Re:Wheels and tires!

I would get the Welds or Mickys, the good ones that are forged, not the cheapies. For tires if you want mileage get the AT's or all seasons. BFG A/T are an excellent all around tire that will give high mileage.
1 choice would be MT.Crusher's with BFG A/T's.
