Talking Finally, wheels, tires and more wheels and tires

Some of you might have been following my saga for the search for the correct wheels and tires for my 04. I think I got it.

My Weld Evo Vel. 8's arrived today, 18x9.5x6.12 BS with 325/65/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers. 2 oz of weight on one of the tires was the most needed out of 4 wheels/tires, very good sign, ok, excellant sign.

Had to cut the black air dam in the front so the wheels clear. They rub a little like the 315's but at low speeds forward just barely.

LOOKS, OMG, KILLER, this really works for my taste. I got the Xenon flairs on which now look perfect with the combo.

Bad news, PRICEY, the wheels are 610 a piece, but I paided 250, tires pricey with road hazzard and whatever warranty were 1300 and change.

I will have photos tomorrow, a little dark now.

OOPS, the ride and road noise is a 9 compared to the 315's which is maybe a 7 tops.

thanks for tuning in

GC

My very very good friend in Texas, the wheels are blems but for the life of me and the 5 guys at Discount Tires can't tell either.

I can ask him if he can do it but it might be 350 a wheel, way better than 610..... Interested?

Pictures in 30 minutes, its raining here.........

Man Gary..... Those look way good on there!

As for the wheels I won't be able to buy any for a good long while . I do love Weld Rims tho........ that's what I've had on my gs for 6 years now. Since the cost so much, you don't seem them on everything out there (and I personally like that).

Nice looking Rig!!!!!

Mr. C, I'd say you knocked a grand slam home run with that tire and wheel combination, well done!

Gary,

That is one beautiful rig!!! Man, those wheels are show stoppers!
I like your Zenon flairs too. Are they the ones with the tape on the back? Looks like you had to remove the Cummins logo up front to fit them.
Thanks for the pix.

Thanks Everyone,,,

WS, yes indeed they are stick on tape and screw in also... the tape keeps the flairs from chaffing on the paint, there's a small gap.

Gary, are you running a level kit on the front of the truck? I don't see one in your sig and just wanted to know for sure.

What kind of rubbing have you noticed with the 9.5" wide tires when turning? More/less than 315s? Right now when I turn full lock to the left, I get a slight rub and wondered if rubbing was exacerbated with wider wheels/tires.

The rig looks pimp, otherwise. I'm thinking REAL hard now. Wheels don't stick out too far at all with the flares installed.

Yes they still rub, cut the the air dam no rubbing there but rubs on the control arms.....

lift, nope, lowered the back 2.5 inches, if I did the lift kit no garage, they rub a little less than the 315's . I will report more later, only 122 miles so far........

BUT TODAY I got her up to speed and had a good shimmy at 154mph, J/K, 75 backed off, went up again it was less and went down and went up again was still less.

SO, I have my other wheels/tires in the back, with that weight and lowering the rear 2.5 inches has the alignment kinda messed up, SO I bagging the rear for loads and hope it will take care of the shimmy. If not I will get a stabilizer(sp)

NITTO was done a great job, these tires ride so much better than the BFG's, 55 front and 40 in the rear,,,,,I read the nipples when the tires are new and had different pressures in all four tires. I think I am very close on pressure.

Sorry for being so long.............................................. .......

Very awesome looking truck Gary.

What did you use to drop the rear 2.5 inches? Because I want to do the same.
