What do ya think?

We just got back from a local pull, and made a few hooks with my old truck (2000 dually). To bring everyone up to speed, we just put in DDP 200hp injectors and head studs, been running a comp edge, HX40 turbo, raptor 150 fuel pump and new DD clutch.

THe pull went great, truck made some really strong passes, but the EGT's pegged the guage! So my question is what do I need to do to get the egt's down, or do I not worry about it? The truck smoked a little but not back like a coal train by no means. Are we just maxing out the HX40 where it is just not working very well? What direction should I go now? Intercooler? Turbo? Anyway if you have any ideas let me know!

Thanks for your help!!

Dustin

I think I'd go with a bigger turbo.

A bigger turbo would be the next step. What do you do with the truck besides sledpulls? That will help make your turbo choice, by knowing what its used for.

Pretty much using the truck for sled pulling, and a little screwing around, not really pulling anything any more with it.

What turbo would you guys recommend? I'm thinking that we'd like to keep it in the work stock class so a 65mm turbo is the biggest to do that with correct? But I guess that most of the pulls we go to around here are brush pulls and they really don't have many turbo rules.

If we were to put a intercooler on it would we see much help? Something along the line of a Spearco?

Thanks again for the replys

Dustin

agreed on the SPS64. not only does the bigger turbine move more air but the bigger exhaust housing will let more air get out on the other side.

But you get the same turbine and housing size on a super b special for substantially less =P

I wouldn't trust a hx40 for that kind of abuse, you really want a larger framed turbo.

save the 1500 bucks and get a water meth kit for 500 bucks, great power and low egts.oh didnt see the injectors size, those injectors are too big for your turbo. htt 64/14/71 and water meth would be awesome with those injectors.

I think I'd call Source Automotive and throw a S400 under the hx40. Then you would have somthing to build off of. Unless you are restricted to a single.

The BD Super B Special will work great, and better price.
