Has anyone heard of a cold air kit made by VOLANT. I was talking with the tech at a local shop recently and he claimed that it's the best. Just curious what everyone else thinks. He may just be trying to sell the product.<br><br>RT

They appeared to be getting an EGT reduction in the 150F - 200F max, and one of the trucks was fairly heavily modified (SuperMentals, HX40, DRAGComp). So its about 50F better than a 'Cannon, but about 100F - 200F less than a Scotty II.<br><br>I think the reason that the Volant is seeing less reduction is that they don't use a large enough cowl intake hole, and they use a square box around the filter element. No attempt is made at shaping the airflow around the element. As such, the cowl ram air effect is neutralized, and all you have is slightly higher pressure inside the box.<br><br>Rod

 

I've heard good things about the Volant systems on gassers but nothing on the diesels...<br><br>What I DO know is that I LOVE my Scotty II ;D

 

So when is that Scotty for my 2003 going to be available :<br><br>From my first impressions I don't think it is going to be pulling as good as I like and will have to be throwing some mods at it for sure <br><br>Leaving Friday for a 5000 mile round trip to CA pullin about 12,000# and that will be the tell tale to see what it will do. I really wanted to mod it before I went but the truck has 6000 miles on it and I wanted to keep it bone stock for atleast one trip to break it in with a full warrenty still intact.

I am still a ways off but I am designing one for the 2nd gen and 3rd gen as well as a way to plumb in the twins that are out there for maximum air intake.<br><br> 8)
