Using Current Turbo and getting another to do twin setup

I currently have a HTB2 62/14 on my truck.. and i was wondering what turbo i could stack with it to make a good twin setup.. this of course would be the smaller of the two turbo's.. anyone have a suggestion on what i should do ?

Probably a HT3B with a 26mm exhaust housing, but with that 62 having a 14mm exhaust housing it's gonna be a pretty big set maybe a little laggy. And your gonna need some bigger injectors.

Rip Rook

has a 2/3 kit, put an S400 under there and wake that puppy up, but again, do expect some lag....

ive got a sps 62. I bought it specifically to stack with a s400/b2. Since you already have the secondary turbo, go to PDW and buy the rest of the kit. It comes with everything that you'll need.

would a 62/12 be a better stack with the s400??? The 62/14 I have now is not bad on lag but i want something that spools faster to keep the in-town driving smoke down between shifts. During the winter it's not bad at all but @ 102 degrees and 90% humidity it gets a little cloudy back there. Would a helix cam clear up the smoke?? To BD or not to BD ??? That is the question.

There are plenty of places that make kits and plenty of people who will help you with the construction. The a 12cm housing for your 62 should make it spool quicker and it isn't very expensive.
But if you want to sell your current turbo you can get a BD set for less than 3 bills complete.

I have a HTT 62/14 on top of an S400. It works very well for what I use my truck for. Do not expect the 62/14 in a twin setup to spool faster then the 62/14 by itself. The twins will move more air at a lower rpm, but they will spool (the rate of boost increase) slower. I love my twins and would not consider going back to a single. I drive my pickup almost everyday. I often tow my travel trailer to the race track, and then race the pickup.

I would stick with the 62/14 and not use a 62/12. You will have much better EGT control with the 14. IMO if you are going to use a top turbo with much smaller then the 14, then you either need to do some pretty good waste gate mods, or use an external wastegate.

Thanks for the reply Paul. I think I'll try it first with the ps/s400 setup and see what happens. It's got to be better than the single. How heavy had you towed with this setup?? I see you're running bigger sticks though.

I don't tow heavy. The most I have towed is right around 10,000#. I just turned the box down and flogged it. Even with the box on 3x5 it won't hit more then 1150 EGT's, unless I really lug it down. 3x5 on my truck is about 510hp. I usually tow with the box on 1x3. Cruise control works better there...
