Twins and Stacks....

Well I really want to run some 6-7 inch mitres on my truck, but the way it is now towing it is redicously loud, which I love. But I think with the stacks right behind my head I might not be able to take it! So my question is, If I run twins in the near future will it kill enough noise to be able to tow fairly comfortably with them? The exhaust is really loud, but the drone is what will wear on you, will twins kill some of this? Don't get me wrong, I love the way it sounds now, I just think it would be too much right behind my head, any ideas? Oh BTW, a muffler is out of the question....

Twins do quite the exhaust down quit a bit. I still get a drone from about 2100-2300. I think the big part is haveing the stacks a couple inchs above the cab. Most guys say that alone helps with the in cab noise.

that's because all your exhaust is going through the turbine and none of it is bypassing it...

as to the original question, twins are WAAAAAY quieter. I got no resonance w/ my twins with 5" straight pipe. it would hammer a little at 1500 if I lugged it, but you won't be running down the highway at that RPM. with twins and some sound deadener, I would think you should be fine towing w/ the stacks

Yeah, the twins really quite things down...but I also had my cab full of sound deadener. It would still make some racket at the 12v drone zone 21-2200, but most times towing I was under or below that!

My miters are not unbearable by any means. Have the AC on and the windows up and cruisin 70mph you dont really know they are there. Now jump on it and you will remember . Didn't really remember my twins making a difference in sound....

twins quieted down my truck ALOT

all i hear is the 400 whistle out the downpipe when driving, and at idle i hear a deeper rumble that actually is kinda quieter than a four inch exhaust..
