Twins Parts List?

If I have an HT3B and an HX35W, what else will I need to assemble a set of twins for a 96 automatic truck? Thanks for the information.

Lets see you will need the material to make the hotpipe. Which is a schedule 40 3"elbow, a t-5 flange for the ht3b, and either the plate that bolts right on to the 35 or the flange that clamps on. You will need an oil feed line and drain for the htb3. You may need a new feed line for the 35 as well. You might want to consider an external gate for the htb3 as well. The cold pipe depends on what size tubing you want to use. On my twins I used two 4" 90s and one 3.5" 90 with an adapter from 3.5" to 4". On the pipe to the intercooler I think it is two 3" 45s. You will also need an air filter and some 5" tubing for the intake. A bottom turbo support bracket is a good idea. Since your truck is an auto you will need material to move the heat exchanger. I can't think of anything else right now, but I am sure I am forgetting something. Others will chime in I am sure.

I have the ability to do all the welding and fabricate the flanges and adapters if needed as we have a full machine shop. I can also make my own oil lines as long as I have the fittings which I should be able to make or find easily. The only thing I will need to buy is the HT3B which I have a good lead on, the piping for the hot and cold pipes and the external wastegate. Will probably have to get another boost gauge as I have read on here. As with all mods there are unexpected costs and then the aftermath like blown head gaskets and transmissions. I would like to buy an extra manifold and do all the fabrication off the truck until complete and then install once complete. The downpipe will have to change and then? Thanks for the input.

The only trouble with that is being able to do the mock up to get correct positioning of the bottom charger to clear the frame rail and other obstacles. It isn't that bad to do it is just time consuming. If your htb3 has a v-band s400 style outlet on it let me know I have a print for that. There are some pics of my piping in my gallery if you want to take a look. Good luck with your project. Feel free to ask any questions you have. I am no expert but I will help any way I can. I didn't need twins I just built them for the challenge.

I appreciate it. I dont need twins either but, If I can do them on the "cheap" (relative) then I would love to have a set. If things dont go well after they are built then I can always sell them and get another single.

So how cheap could a guy set up an s-400 HX 35 twins setup? Are we still talking over 2K?

Mine ended up running me right around $1100 but that was with buying a new k31. A regular s400 would be about $200-300 cheaper. Now this is with me not having to but any flanges only tubing. I hope this gives you a rough idea.

Thanks, so probably 1500 or so is the cheapest it could be done. Cyric, does spoolup with the K31 and stocker compare to just the stock turbo, assuming you had the same fuel enhancements prior to twins.

$1500 seems like it would be about right with having to buy the flanges from someone. Well I was running the same fuel before the twins but it was with a super hx-40. These twins spool faster than the 40 did by about 300rpm. The 40 didn't want to start spooling till about 1800 where as my twins start spooling at 1500. The 40 wouldn't keep egts in check while towing either. Now keep in mind the k31 spools faster than a standard s400. I was after a good set of towing twins and I am very happy with how they turned out. I really need to get my hands on a 14cm housing but before I spend $400 on a new housing I will spend the money on a new charger and redo my piping.

Now do you think that an s 300 turbo instead of the stock HX 35 will spool faster than your old Super 40? Or do you think it would be more of a racing setup?

I built mine for around $900. I already had the HX40 and was able to get the hotpipe and 3B for $650. The rest was spent on clamps, elbows, v-clamps, silicone and the drains.

The s300 is supposed to spool quick.

I don't know, I am no expert, just a tinkerer. I imagine if you size the s300 right it should spool faster then the 40 did. Everything is a matter of trade offs spool-up vs choking out on the top end I will be looking for a happy medium. Therre are alot of more knowlegable folks on here than me hopefully they will chime in and answer your questions better.

S400

Cruising around the web and came across this place. http://dallasturbo.com/specials1.html They have S400 and k31 on special. Are these products sized right for twins? Good price?
