Re:Which Turbo?

ok Kurt, so of those new turbos you listed which would go best as the small turbo for a twin setup? I had been debating the Piers 35, and 40. Not to mention other various turbos. Do you have any flow charts cfm ratings p/r's, a/r's??

Andrew

Re:Which Turbo?

The fastest spooling turbo I sell is a K-45-4ex4 that or the K-45-4 ex3 would both work great as the smaller turbo in a twin setup. With either one in a twin setup I would suggest a External waste gate to control Boost pressures. Also one of the KSB-1's or the B-1B have been used as the smaller turbo in twins with very good results. The B-1's would be the obivious choice if you are going to use Propane and Nitrous..

Feel free to call for more specific info.... thx Kurt Yardley 505-534-0434

Re:Which Turbo?

To answer the original poster.
I would advise an ATS hybrid turbo (like the one stakeman uses) or a Piers Hx40/16 (like the one I have).
For your HP area these turbos spool quickly and add some EGT relief.
My experience with the Piers HX40 has been great.
Although my 16 housing is getting choked on the top end.
Maybe its time for an 18cm housing?

--Justin

Re:Which Turbo?

PourinD, I think its more of drive pressures getting to high on the 40. A 16cm is plenty for your mods.
Danny

Re:Which Turbo?

When trying to pick a turbo you need to decide where you want to use the power the most.

1. If you pick a small turbo the truck will have great bottom end performance, but it will start to fall off in the midrange.

2. A medium sized turbo will spool ok and have good midrange and start to fall off on the top end. It is my opinion that these make great everyday turbos.

3. A large turbo will spool slower but when it hits. Hang on. These are great for the track and can be driven daily if you ease into the throtle.

The ATS hybrid is great for everday use. I have abused mine for sometime now and doubt that this turbo will ever break at my current HP.

Just my 2 cents.

This is a great topic with lots of good information. Lets keep it headed that direction. We all may learn something.
