transmission upgrade
transmission upgrade
ok i have an 2000 4x4 auto, and i want to upgrade the trans a bit. now my question is weather or not I should buy the whole transmission or have someone put the parts in the one i have?
Also what should I upgrade? i no i want a valve body and a good converter but what else? This is just for a daily driver but it sees a great deal of towing in the summer. Now im not rich so what is the most effective tranny to buy?
Thanks in advance
Casey

Whether you buy a complete transmission or do it yourself by ordering and installing the parts, I recommend also updating ALL of the clutch packs by going to some stronger/tougher frictions and metals along with installing at least a billet input and billet output while you are in there. I have had very good luck with the "ATS Transmissions" (www.atsdiesel.com) in all of my trucks since 2000, but Gorend and Suncoast also build very good units.

Thanks for your kind words buddy!
The #2 only numbers were down some on the Mustang Dyno as I went over to David Dunbar's Dyno later in the weekend and laid down 827 H.P. (#2 only) on his Dynojet 248. Both dynos measure the H.P./TQ differently. Still had a good time though. Thanks again.

130,000 miles. I plan to put twins on it eventually for towing and the prolly stack the edge with a smarty and new injectors. But the main reason is I tow a 28ft trailer with a 3500# car inside of it, i dont want the tranny to take a crap while doing so
