2003 CTD w/ 47RE is it upgrade or the same transmission?

2003 CTD w/ 47RE is it upgrade or the same transmission?
I have a friend looking at getting a used 2003 Ext CTD with the 47RE. I wasn't sure if it was upgraded over the previous transmission. Wanted to tell him to not get it if so.

And what kind of deal should he get for this? SLT Ext Cab Std Cummins w/ 47RE 4x4?? They are asking 33k the truck has hail damage and 109 miles.
