transmission cooler upgrade needed?

starting to get some great ideas from this site on simple upgrades (chips etc) I dont intend to get too carried away - I tow an 10,000 trailer several times a year and am concerned about the transmission. Should I upgrade the "heavy duty cooler" ? My wife will kill me if my "toys" wreck a camping trip 'cauase the trans craps out. Will shift kits and larger valve bodies make a difference? I dont have too heavy a foot really!! LOVE MY TRUCK!!

Re:transmission cooler upgrade needed?

Well I think that the main problems with the stock tranny are that there is not enough cooler flow, and that they slip if you use serious torque.
I think that a bigger cooler will just be a band aid at best. If you want to upgrade ( who doesn't ??? ) you should go with a reputable aftermarket tranny. The guys making them will steer you right concerning coolers, maintenance etc for your exact setup.
For example I do have a DTT tranny and do not tow or haul and my cooler is really sufficient.
Something that will be very important is [glow=red, 2, 300] GAUGES [/glow]
to make you know what's going on.
