Indash GPS
I'm looking for an in dash GPS/DVD unit for my 97 does anybody have one in a 2nd gen or know of one that will fit in one? If so what and why?
I have seen some very nice units on here but they were in 3rd gens, and wasn't sure if they could fit in a 97 without major modification.
update: i would not mind making the stock radio/ ashtray area one big hole for a screen.

JVC KD-NX5000
In my 01.5. DVD/NAV/40Gb hard drive (16Gb is NAV 24Gb for music server). Screen built right in. I know it looks small but it is more than big enough in my truck.
Navigation: is okay. Updates via DVD (so you have to be able to burn a DVD to get updates). Some have complained you must know the exact city to find stuff, but I've found it has gotten me anywhere I need to go if I know the address.
DVD: works great. I have it bypassed and like to play concert DVDs while driving. Love listening to it.
Hard Drive: can rip CDs straight from the store. Cool feature. Can copy MP3 off of a DVD or a CD but is slow doing so, but once you load them up, they are there. Navigation of the MP3 isn't as easy or intuitive as most MP3 players, but it works great for me, I just hit shuffle and let it ride. I installed it over 3 months ago and I haven't heard the same song twice yet.
I added the bluetooth module to it as well so I have complete hands free through my car stereo. It comes with a small mic that fits great on the visor, speakers are your truck speakers. Great addition.
Anyone has any questions feel free to PM me, I love this head unit. And if you are an audiophile it has great separation and staging as well.
BTW: I purchased it as a refurb off of fleaBay and got it for <$600!
