Indash flip out DVD/Nav units?

Anyone here running an aftermarket flip out DVD/NAV/Satellite radio unit? I'm tired of the factor head unit and I don't know a lot about the DVD units except I'd like to have one . . . I spend a lot of time in the truck, sleeping and relaxing (long hunting trips) and would be nice to have something to watch while I'm doing it. Would also like the added benefit of built in NAV as I'm tired of switching my Garmin back and forth between my car and truck. Other features (like ability to get TV tuner) would be awesome. What do you guys have (or have had)? Do you like? What'd it run you? I'm certainly no AV expert so someone else is definitely going to be doing the install. Thanks a lot guys.

IMO if you want something nice you will have to pay for it.... I just put one in my brothers 07.5 and he LOVES it. It was a panasonic unit, something 500nav i believe, i would have to double check that. Package comes with a single din unit motorized touchscreen, and nav unit. He added the sirrius to it. At it interfaces with the factory steering wheel controls with an available adaptor. Lots of things to ad....Ipod, bluetooth. Oh and he sis the reverse camera. Has USB to hook up mp3's. really a nice setup. i think you can get it for just under 2k installed. If you want the details you can pm me.

its the kvt717-dvd very nice also put in the 10" for rear seat. Its like a movie theater with the 2 10 subs and kendwood tweeters and mids, very nice to have. With tv tuner don't qoute me but i don't think that will work here in a month or so when they switch to digital...

Well, generally, anything good you're going to have to pay for. Most of the good in-dash DVD NAV units run around 1,000 bucks for just the unit without the extras and install. I'd love to upgrade the speakers and maybe add a sub or two under the back seat . . . but I really know nothing about car audio and don't want to get taken to the woodshed by some shop.

I'm confused. You have an 06, as do some other posters. Why not put a full double din unit in and have a much larger screen, no motor to worry about breaking, and a cleaner looking install?

I have a Pioneer AVIC-N3. It's a great unit but there are a couple of things I don't like about it. #1: You must have the navigation DVD in to be able to view detailed maps. #2: When playing a CD, the only way to pause it is to flip the screen up and press the pause button on the touch screen. I don't like this because I keep the screen in the dash 95% of the time. It has iPod capability, plays mp3s, and is satellite radio ready but no USB ports. It was in the truck when I bought it but I think it's an $1800 unit. However, I don't think they make it anymore because it has been superseded by a newer model. Not sure if these minor annoyances have been remedied with the newer model.

Had a Pioneer AVIC N2 and now have the N4 and love it, much better, larger buttons, navi works better and more points of interest. I would recommend one.

I was thinking the same thing. it would just mean getting the factory nav system dash bezel. the factory nav system is double din, but the non nav is 1.5 din. If i remember right i think the new bezel is like 150 or 200. might be an option for you. It will also be easier to find an all in one unit being that there is more room to put the electronics.

Maybe I need to do some more research. I thought you could get a bigger screen with a single din flip out version (around 7") than a double din indash screen?

For those of you with single DIN flip out versions, do you have any pictures (thanks Rip) of the install? What did you do about the two **** goofy bezel that's in the truck? Rip appears to have a different bezel than I have. I've got that goofy looking woodgrain crap going on in my truck. Thoughts? Thanks guys!

I got the nav bezel from the dealership for right at 125 bucks. All thats needed is a mount kit and a good canbus adapter (PAC i recommend) and youll end up with this...

Mine is a Pioneer AVIC D3. If I had to do it all over again, Kenwood DNX8120

The single din units require a mounting kit that give half moons for the ***** and another pocket for under the single din unit.

I just got this JVC unit. It usually retails for a little over $1,000 this place I found on ebay sells them for $739 (free shipping) with an ipod adapter that will allow it to play movies off the ipod if yours is vidoe capable. I like the unit and have my steering wheel controls hooked back up along with sirius. Its capable of more if you want. Check it out its a great unit for a good price. Took only a few days to get it.
