Trans temp gauge
Dave Goerend recommends the pan. The test ports aren't all that great because there is no fluid flow there. It's just a pressure test port. The cooler line is a popular spot if you want to see the fluid at its highest temp and you like to watch your gauge go up and down a lot. If you mount in the pan it also serves as a drain plug if you don't have one already. You need a threaded bung welded to the pan.
