I had a guy in Indiana offer to swap me tranny's. He's got an 01 Ho with a brand new Con OFE in it. Only money that would be exchanged would be me paying him for the clutch, nothing else. What all would I have to do. My truck is in my sig. I'm seriously thinking about this because I've always wanted a stick. It ain't the best for drag racing but oh well. I'm still gonna aim for 600 rwhp (obviously with a new clutch). Would I need to change drive shafts (his is 4x4 but I don't know what length truck)? I know the PCM or ECM will have to swap along with the steering column, clutch assembly, and tranny's, but what else?

 

I swapped a 5 speed into a 96 auto. It wasn't terrible. Lots of little things. The t/case input had to be changed- the 5 speed has a bigger output shaft. Hanging the pedals was no big deal, nor were the hydraulics. Small wiring differences. The rear driveshaft was close enough to work perfectly, but the front shaft had to be shortened a bit. T/case shift bracket needed some "adjustment".
Anyway, if you're talkin 6 speed, it may be a whole different ballgame than a 5 speed, but it's doable. Good luck, keep us posted.
