Too Much Timing?

Is there such a thing? Im thinking of yanking my 370's and reinstalling my stock 180 injectors. Will they run correctly with 18* timing? Diesel is almost back up to $3 and I need to save where I can. I was getting about 17mpg in town before the 370's and timing and thought that with the timing and stock injectors I might be able to beat that. Thanks.

Kevin

17 will be fine with the little injectors, i have had my wife's 98 at 17 for the past 60k, she has over 250k on her truck.

I have had 17 or close to that in the 95 for 60k or so and get a lot better mileage. I tried lower timing an did not like the way the truck ran. good luck Jim

Thanks for the input, I guess I will yank em out and put the old ones back in. If I get that much better mileage I will probably just sell the 370's.

I had my 95 at 17*, twins, and towing heavy for about a year...only twins for about 2 months though, then the timing slipped to 13*

I need it get it back up, and I'm gonna set it back to 17*

My main concern with doing this is mileage. If Im not going to see much better economy then I wont mess with it. Anybody removed 370's for stock injectors and kept the same timing and seen mileage improvement?

I'm curious about this too. I have 370's in my dually, and it smokes like a forest fire. I'm thinking about pulling the stock injectors (215's) out of another truck I have and putting them in.

Where did u get ur 370s from?

Mine smoke alot too, and have that famous surging. But if you want better results, JR adkins offers a set of half cut DVs that are supposed to kill the surge, BUT stock 215s are very well mannered and with large DV's can produce awesome power!

Signature600 can testify to that...

I got my 370's off e-bay and they were listed as "MARINE" injectors. I have not had any surging problems. They do haze at idle and clear up when warm just like everyone seems to say they do. I really like the injectors and would hate to get rid of them but, economy is the name of the game right now. Mama wants another midget so I gotta start saving money.
