Timing 01 Dodge Diesel
Timing 01 Dodge Diesel
Hey all, I talked with mechanic today that told me I could not time my 2001 Dodge. He said it was done electronicly...Is this correct? I was going to try and advance the timeing to bring down EGTs a bit. I pulled my trailer for 17 hrs on the weekend and it seems high. I run the Edge With ATT and at 70mph and 2100rpm I have around 12-14 psi of boost and 1100 F EGT on flat ground any hill and I am at 1200 right away. I only have the Edge at level 1 or 40hp. When I start to pull a slight hill I get 20 -23 psi of boost but EGTs still climb fast.
It drives me nuts that I have to back out of the throttle on every little hill!!
Any Suggestions?
Thanks

Yeah, no mechanical timing advance with a VP-44, you might play with the setting on the Juice so it dosen't fuel quite as hard. I believe it has the sub settings like the Comp does...
You might also check the air filter, and consider an exhaust/intake upgrade. And you might have a small bost leak.

Does the Juice have the sub levels like the Comp? You might try turning them down, if you have them... And I would check for boost leaks, not sure if your boost is low or not, as I have no experience with the Juice.

A hybrided HX35-40 will give a good improvement to egt reduction without going to another exhaust system, for very little expense. Its performance beats any combination of intake and/or exhaust system you can find. I've seen many trucks over 400 hp using the hybrided 35.
