Is there such a thing as too big of an exhaust?

I noticed on some exhaust kits that they recommend certain sizes for certain hp levels. Would running a monster size exhaust hurt anything even though your not in that power level?

Not for performance. But I have seen some so large they look ridiculous. Nothing is worse than BLING on a diesel pickup. Keep it reasonable, thats all. Dont over do it. JMHO

If your running stock power than too big of any exhaust can hurt your power. I put a 4" dp and the rest 5" on my 01' before doing any other mods and it actually lost power. If you have some extra fuel then i'd say go as big as you please

I have 5" and love it. Had the stock size pipes for a long time with my mods and I really appreciate the larger exhaust now. It is louder, but cools alot faster after driving and keeps it cooler on the road.
