Tapping IP wire bad idea?

I just replaced my ip about a 100 miles ago and was wondering if it was a good idea to wait a while before tapping the wire??????? and i was wondering the downfalls of tapping the wire ??

If you got a one year warranty, I would talk to the vendor. Tapping wire will most likely void the warranty. It also I believe can effect the core charge on an exchange. SNOKING

I tapped mine the day I got it back but, I used a stealth cover. I put the original cover and the torx wrench to change it in the glove box. When it fails I will put the original cover back on. The dealer bulliten says to look for a tapped wire, it does not say to remove cover and look for tap there. Black rtv will fill the tap under the cover, just in case.
